all season with five race victories, five runner-up finishes and seven semifinal round appearances. Capps held the points lead for 17 events during the season, including the last 14 consecutive races. Line became a threetime Pro Stock world champion at the Auto Club NHRA Finals on Sunday. The driver of the Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro concluded the season with eight victories in addition to six runner-up finishes and seven semifinal appearances. He was the No. 1 qualifier at seven events throughout the year. Line and teammate Greg Anderson combined to win the first 13 events of the 2016 season and never conceded the points lead to another team. Line led the points for the final nine races and a total of 22 events. Savoie captured his first Pro Stock Motorcycle world title Sunday at the Auto Club NHRA Finals. The rider of the White Alligator Racing Suzuki had two victories this season, finished runner-up four times, including two consecutive at Atlanta and Englishtown, N.J., and secured the No. 1 qualifying position at the final three races. Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Cory Reed was named the winner of the $20,000 Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award, which recognizes the top NHRA rookie performer of the year. Reed raced to his first final round appearance at the event in Reading, Pa., by upsetting Hector Arana Sr. and Andrew Hines before falling short of the victory to Eddie Krawiec. Reed finished the season with five quarterfinal and two semifinal finishes. He was the only rookie racer to qualify for the Countdown to the Championship playoffs and he finished ninth in the point standings. For the first time in over four decades, and for only the second time in NHRA history, Dodge was named the NHRA Manufacturers Cup winner. Funny Car racers Ron Capps, Matt Hagan, Tommy Johnson Jr. and Jack Beckman, Pro Stock racer Allen Johnson, and sportsman racers James Caro and Kevin Helms led the winning effort for Dodge. "It is a great honor for the Mopar and Dodge brands to receive NHRA's coveted Manufacturers Cup," said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA – Global. "This award is very meaningful for us, particularly since it has been a number of years since we've reached this goal. On behalf of Mopar and Dodge, I extend our gratitude to the drivers and teams that contributed to this monumental victory. Their dedication to Mopar power and the
tremendous effort that they put forth, both in the race shop and on the racetrack, have made this possible. We also thank the loyal fans that support and cheer for these drivers and the NHRA for providing the arena for us to showcase the power and speed of the Mopar and Dodge brands at the drag strip.” Connie Kalitta was honored during the evening as the recipient of the first ever NHRA Lifetime Achievement Award. In NHRA’s 65-year history, few people have seen more, or accomplished more, than Kalitta. He has won as a driver, a crew chief and a team owner, with championships in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. Kalitta, known as “The Bounty Hunter” as a driver, was the first racer to reach the 200 mph mark at an NHRA sanctioned event. From 1980 to 1986 he finished in the top 10 in Top Fuel for seven consecutive seasons, including three times in the top three. In 1992 Kalitta was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America; in 1994 he won the U.S. Nationals; and in 2001, on the NHRA’s 50th anniversary, he was
named one of the NHRA’s Top 50 Drivers. Kalitta has been involved in racing for more than half a century. He has built Kalitta Motorsports into one of the most successful organizations in NHRA history, featuring Top Fuel drivers J.R. Todd and Doug Kalitta, and Funny Car drivers Del Worsham, Alexis DeJoria and the newest addition to the team, Paul Lee. Drivers in nine categories in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series also were recognized as 2016 world champions: Joey Severance (Top Alcohol Dragster), Jonnie Lindberg (Top Alcohol Funny Car), Doug Doll (Competition Eliminator), Jimmy DeFrank (Super Stock), Joey Strickland (Stock Eliminator, Top Dragster), Nick Folk (Super Comp), Mia Tedesco (Super Gas) and Mike Williams (Top Sportsman). Governor Brown, UCSF Announce New Precision Medicine Projects

Continuing California’s groundbreaking effort to better treat and prevent diseases through advanced computing, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) today announced six new projects have been selected for the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine (CIAPM). “These grant winners will harness the power of advanced computing to better treat and prevent diseases,” said Governor Brown. Precision medicine aims to use data-driven tools and analysis to develop new diagnostics, therapies and insights into disease. Last year, California became the first state in the nation to launch a precision medicine initiative when Governor Brown announced the creation of CIAPM. Through this program, California is developing demonstration projects that harness the power of advanced computing to better diagnose, treat and prevent disease for all Californians. “What an exciting time to be a Californian,” said Atul
Butte, Director, Institute for Computational Health Sciences, Professor of Pediatrics, UCSF and Principal Investigator, California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine. “With these state resources, we are helping to launch six exciting projects in precision medicine, bringing together academics, physicians, small and large businesses, and patients. These projects cover individuals who are healthy and ill, from the youngest to the oldest, and make use of the latest mobile, imaging, wearable, and deep learning technologies, all to push the boundaries of what is possible in medicine.” The six projects announced today were selected following a rigorous assessment by a selection committee of nationally and internationally recognized experts in genomics, statistics, ethics, cancer, computation and other sciences. Over 20 organizations from academia, private sector, patient advocate groups, hospital systems and entrepreneurs will be partnering to complete these projects, which will use research,
clinical, environmental and population data to better diagnose, treat and prevent disease. These projects include efforts to: Improve the early treatment of prostate cancer through a complex assessment of patient characteristics, cancer severity indicators and genomics. Help patients better manage chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and depression by gathering personal health data through their mobile phones. Speed the diagnosis of traumatic brain injury, stroke or aneurysm by applying state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technology to computed tomography (CT) scanning. Create a catalogue of DNA variants to better understand harmful mutations and better identify the causes of disease in children that suffer from difficult to diagnosis conditions. Combine several types of clinical data and realtime patient data in an interactive tool that patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and doctors can use to bet-
ter predict how the disease may develop over time and what can be done to improve outcomes. More quickly identify the early signs of cardiovascular disease by, among other activities, providing patients with specialized watches that transmit sleep, heart rate and other health data to their doctors. UC Health and UCSF host CIAPM with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research. Each grant awardee is eligible for up to $1.2 million in grant funding, which will then be leveraged with other non-state funding sources to complete the projects. In addition to developing demonstration projects, CIAPM is conducting an inventory of California’s vast technological and medical resources that make precision medicine possible. The 2016 Budget Act includes approximately $10 million for the CIAPM. For more information about the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine, including further details on selected projects, visit: http://www.CIAPM. org
A Personal Fight for a City Council Seat By Mary McNulty
There is nothing as personal as an attack on a family member. When the attack is against an 11-yearold girl it becomes even more so. Scott Bowles of San Gabriel has been fighting a war against bullying and is pleased with the changes made in the current school Board. Luckily for Scott Bowles, Christina Alvarado, the only remaining School Board member, is a tremendous supporter of his daughter and the anti-bullying campaign. The battle has now entered the political arena with the city council race with Scott Bowles facing his nemesis Denise Menchaca. No Support From The School Board Whatsoever As an 11-year-old, Bowles’s daughter faced a tremendous amount of bulling while in middle school. The situation came to a head when she was pelleted by rocks on the school’s playground. Seeking help, the Bowles went to the school
district. Immediately, they faced legal blockades put in place by the San Gabriel school district. Led by Superintendent of School Susan Parks and School Board President Denise Menchaca, the School Board refused any assistance instead opting for the legal route. As a result, the daughter faced 8 hours of a grueling deposition. Throughout the process, Bowles reiterated his only desire was to get reimbursement for the medical expenses incurred. To fight the battle, Menchaca increased the school board’s legal budget to three times the original budget at the expense of Valley tax payers. All documents to back up the increased legal figure are available through a simple public records request. The total received from the settlement by the family left them financially devastated. Mike Eng, Carol Liu and AB1156 There was one bright
spot in the California legislature, according to Bowles, and that was Mike Eng. Working with Carol Liu, CA State Senator and Bowles, Eng introduced AB1156. It was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown in Oct. 2011 taking effect Jan 2012. “AB 1156, sponsored by the California State PTA, requires training of school site personnel in the prevention of bullying and gives victims of bullying priority for transferring out of a school, if requested. AB 1156 encourages school districts to include policies and procedures on the prevention of bullying in their comprehensive school safety plans; authorizes alternative attendance for students who have been the victims of bullying; and provides the opportunity to develop training in the prevention of bullying.” While extremely happy with the past and current support Mike Eng has given to his cause –he brings up
the issue at a majority of events- Bowles was recently taken back by a decision made. His office has thrown an endorsement to Denise Menchaca. All Bowles can do now is express his confusion over the decision. The City Council Campaign At this point Bowles has made the decision to fight Menchaca for the City Council seat. As a small business owner, he has been in local politics for years. He personally feels the need to stop Menchaca from furthering her political career. As Bowles explains, based upon her financial past he said, “I can’t imagine her controlling the purse strings.” The March election campaign has started but will begin full swing in 2017. Currently Bowles is working the community, knocking on doors. As a small business owner, he feels he is prepared to serve the community.

How to Sell High: Avoid these Three Mistakes When Selling Your Home Alhambra - When you decide to sell your home, setting your optimal asking price is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Price is often the first thing a prospective buyer sees, and many homes are passed over as “not in our price range” before the home even has a chance of being shown. Your asking price is often your home’s “first impression,” and if you want to realize the most money you can for your home, it’s imperative that you make an excellent first impression. This is not as easy as it sounds,
and pricing strategy should not be taken lightly. Pricing too high can be as costly to a homeseller as pricing too low. Comparing against what other homes in your neighborhood have sold for is only a small part of the process, and by itself is not nearly enough to help you make the best decision. A recently study, which compiles 10 years of industry research, has resulted in a new special report entitled “Homesellers: How to Get the Price You Want (and Need).” This report will help you understand pricing strategy from three different angles. When taken
together, this information will help you price your home to sell fast, and sell for top dollar. To order your FREE Special Report, call toll-free 1-888-3004632 and enter 1016. GROUND BREAKING FORECLOSURE RULING! The California Supreme Court ruled on February 18, 2016 that a homeowner has the right to challenge his lender's authority to foreclose based upon void assignments of the loan to third parties. The high court expressly upheld an earlier California Appellate opinion called Glaski v Bank of America. This decision could set aside many foreclosures and/or obtain monetary damages, settle lawsuits with modifications and prevent foreclosures from happening in the first place. This decision will hopefully provide our firm with even more legal leverage to not only set aside many foreclosures and /or obtain money damages, but settle lawsuits with modifications and prevent foreclosures from happening in the first place. I think this really puts it on the map, so to speak, and I’m really excited.” He added building the memorial was very nice for the city. “Everybody knows this was something special,” Yu said. “Everyone feels the veterans deserved recognition and everybody worked together.” The dedication also featured a flag raising ceremony, recognition of veterans who were in attendance and musical selections that were performed by Temple City High School’s Brighter Side Singers. And there was even an aircraft flyover, courtesy of Golden Eagle Aviation Service and Fulgent Diagnostics Council Member William Man said the memorial shows just how important veterans are to the City of Temple City. “As a council we’ve worked quite a while to
stay at the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. Since opening in February 2004, more than 18,600 children and families have stayed at the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. Families who need services are referred to them by medical personnel. The House has served families from California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Florida, Idaho, Minnesota, Hawaii, Oregon, and North Carolina. They have also been honored to serve international families from Canada, Columbia, Guam, Guatemala, Iraq, Mexico, Russia, South Africa and Vietnam. Last year 45% of the families were new families. “It is important to remember what the holidays represent that the spirit of giving is what makes the holidays truly special. Who bet-

build something special to honor and celebrate our veterans,” Man said. “As you know, all along Las Tunas Drive we have all the banners of all the individuals from Temple City who have served in the Armed Forces. This is just that cherry on top to show how much we appreciate them.” Man added the memorial had been in the planning stages for just over a year, and said he is glad it got finished in time for its Veterans Day dedication. “We’re very glad that it came to fruition on time,” he said. “That’s always the key. We made it.” Joe Milazzo, who served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, said he was thrilled with the new memorial. “I really enjoyed this,” Milazzo said. “It made you feel you did something and they recognized you for something that you did.
You’re not forgotten.” Bernie Escarcega, an Army veteran and graduate of Temple City High School who served in Iraq, said getting recognition at the local level is very special. “I’m glad that cities can appreciate their veterans prior, current and future,” he said. “They can have a lot of honor to know that their city cares about them.” Gene Glasco, a Vietnam veteran and Arcadia City Clerk, said he is glad veterans are being honored by their local cities as it means a lot to them. “I think it’s a long time in coming,” said Glasco, who served in the Navy. “Temple City has always been veteran centric and oriented. A lot of work’s gone into it, a lot of planning and design. I’m so glad it’s here for all veterans, not just veterans from Temple City, but veterans from all over the San Gabriel Valley.”

Mesrobian Armenian Cultural Night Celebrates 25 Years of Independence On Friday, Oct. 21, an enormous crowd gathered at Armenian Mesrobian School to celebrate 25 years of independence in Armenia and Artsakh as Mesrobian students performed during their annual Armenian Cultural Night. “Everyone had an amazing night as our student body showcased the Armenian culture with songs, poems, and dances,” shared Mesrobian High School Senior Alex Manoukian, the school’s Student Council President and the evening’s emcee. “Part of our school’s mission is to keep Armenian culture thriving and spread the love of our people to the student body. Without our culture and language we have no homeland,” said Mesrobian Senior David Khachatryan who gave the evening’s student message Khachatryan welcomed all the event’s guests. Special guests included former educators from Mesrobian school, educators from other schools, and local Armenian community organizations. Armenian Cultural Night is an annual event organized by Mesrobian’s Armenian Department along with the Parent Faculty Club. The Armenian Department incorporated Armenian Studies education into the production and preparation of the evening, as well as the program itself. Armenian Language teachers honed their students’ language and recitation skills by working closely with their Armenian language teachers Shaghig Artinian, Marina Cherchian, Arpy Hamparian, and Zepur Ohannesian. The evening’s traditional Armenian folk dances for High School were choreographed by Mesrobian parent Eliz Grigoryan. Middle School and Elementary dances were choreographed by Mesrobian Armenian Language teacher
Shaghig Artinian and her husband Koko Artinian, both dancers and choreographers. Before moving to the United States from Armenia early last year, Shaghig and Koko Artinian were well-known within the Syrian-Armenian community’s Hamazkayin dance groups. Artwork by Studio Art students was displayed, including an “Armenian Folk Photobooth,” created under the guidance of Mesrobian Art Teacher Malvina Mkrian. Students dressed in authentic Armenian folk costumes, including the High Schooler’s costumes which were handmade and sewn with love and pride by Mrs. Grigoryan. Food booths were run by Mesrobian parents and included traditional Armenian food, such as Harissa and desserts. Vendor booths ranged from mixed nuts to jewelry and included the popular artistic creations of Mesrobian Alumna Arpi Krikorian. A slideshow behind stage displayed photo memories from last year’s Junior Trip to Armenia, providing context to the evening’s celebrations and giving the current Mesrobian Seniors pangs of nostalgia from the Armenian homeland. “Our culture is alive and well,” shared former Mesrobian Armenian Language and Armenian History teacher Khatoune Pakradouni, “In a way, the evening reminded me of the Cultural Nights we used to host when I was working at Mesrobian, with the same enthusiasm and excitement. Our sacred work of educating students in the Armenian language and culture is clearly continuing at Mesrobian. That makes me feel very happy. What made me especially happy was seeing the look on the students' faces as they were performing and the enjoyment of their proud parents. I could see clearly how

much fun they were having and how happy they were!” “Hearing those words from Mrs. Pakradouni meant so much to me,” explained Mrs. Cherchian. “I am happy
that she and others enjoyed the Cultural Night, which our students learned so much from.” In her closing remarks, Parent Faculty Club President
Ani Cinquegrani thanked parents and students and community members. “The success of this evening is the result of the hard work and dedication of Mes-
robian and the tireless volunteers. Of course, Cultural Night would not have been complete without our honored guests, family members, and community.” she said.

If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code.
