Huntington Memorial Hospital Faces Multiple Agency Investigations

By Terry Miller It hasn’t been a good couple of weeks for Huntington Hospital. Actually the year thus far has brought more than its fair share of negative publicity to one of California’s preeminent hospitals. First, the California Nurses’ Association’s (CNA) unionization efforts were seemingly thwarted by RNs who stood by the hospital and the management of HMH. Then, more recently, two nurses fired from the hospital claim the sacking was a direct result of their efforts to unionize. In March, Beacon Media published scores of letters from community members and Registered Nurses on both sides of the issue of unionization. In the final analysis, there were 539 votes against union representation and 445 in favor, with 175 “challenged” ballots pending resolution. The election results will not be finalized until all other charges against Hun-

Document Illuminates Official’s Ties to Gemcoin Founder by joe taglieri
An Arcadia resident presented a document at the Arcadia City Council meeting Tuesday that shows a current business relationship between Councilmember John Wuo and the founder of Gemcoin, a controversial “cryptocurrency” investment product. Meanwhile, the debate among council members and residents over mansionization continued to build intensity. Highlands neighborhood resident David Arvizu
provided council members with a form from the California Secretary of State showing that Wuo and Gemcoin founder Steve Chen are principals in 24 HD Surveillance, a limited liability corporation based in Arcadia. According to the “statement of information” document filed in January 2014 and approved by the state in March of last year, the company’s address is 135 E. Live SEE PG. 17

At Risk Missing Person: Huong Tuyet Vu of Arcadia Huong Tuyet Vu was reported missing to the Arcadia Police Department by a family member. According the family, Ms. Vu lives in Arcadia and was last seen on Aug. 4, 2015, at a court hearing in Santa Ana. Since that time she has not been seen by any of her family and her cellular phone has been disconnected. Several family members have tried to contact her but have not been successful. According to the reporting party, Ms. Vu was
diagnosed with schizophrenia but does not take medication. The missing person is described as follows: Huong Tuyet Vu (0412-75), Female, Vietnamese, 5 ft 4 in, 100 lbs, bro hair and eyes.
