Triple Crown champion American Pharoah arrived back at his barn at Santa Anita last Thursday from Churchill Downs. Arriving First Class on ‘Air Horse One,’ the Triple Crown winner seemed relaxed albeit a bit tired from his travels. The three-year-old colt, owned and bred by Ahmed Zayat and trained by Bob Baffert, landed at Ontario International Airport from Louisville Thursday morning, around 9:45 a.m. He was transported with a sixunit law enforcement code 3 escort to Santa Anita. Study Finds That Bringing Walmart to "The Mariachi Divas" to Perform at Rockin' Wednesdays Summer Concert Series El Monte Would Have Many ‘Impacts’ BY NICK KIPLEY

After last week’s article regarding the community’s reaction to the proposed removal of Art Barrios from the planning commission, the El Monte Examiner was contacted by an unnamed source close to officials in city hall who made the claim that the reason Barrios’ removal from the planning commission was being discussed wasn’t because SEE PG. 12

The City of El Monte invites all residents to attend its 12th Annual Rockin’ Wednesdays concert series, offered July 15, 22 and 29 and Aug. 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Arceo Park. The most recent addition to the concert calendar includes a July 15 concert that will feature “The Mariachi Divas” as the headlining performers. SEE PG. 13
