Cal Phil Gets Ready for Summer Concert Series at Santa Anita First Concert Will Feature ‘Beatlemania Now’

With just a few weeks to go before opening night on June 27, a crane and workers were finalizing positioning of the massive Hollywood Bowl-type dome Monday evening at Santa Anita’s infield. The dome will be home to the California Philharmonic’s award winning orchestra and Maestro Victor Vener through August 22 when they perform the final concert of the season, “Postcards from Abroad.” The opening concert will surely be a classic, combining revolutionary music from two prolific eras. Adding to the excitement this year, California Philharmonic welcomes special guest Beatlemania Now, the “best tribute band on the planet,” SEE PG. 15

Beginning in July, Arcadia will host a weekly Friday-night street fair in the city's downtown area. Niche.com ranked Arcadia as #17 in its “Best Towns to Raise a Family in California” list. Niche is an online company that offers reviews and opinions from everyday experts such as parents and students about schools, towns, states and counties. The website used eight different criteria for its rankings: percentages for the age ranges 35-44 years old and nine years old and under, school ratings,
crime and safety, community involvement and investment by the city, housing, and access to libraries, day cares and grocery stores. Crime and safety and education were both weighted 20 percent.
