Schiff Writes Letter to Metro Board Members Opposing 710 Tunnel Alternative After EIR Released Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) sent a letter to Chairman Eric Garcetti and members of the Los Angeles Metro Board opposing the SR-710 North freeway tunnel alternative proposed in the SR-710 North Study by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). In the letter, Schiff pushes the Board and Metro to instead study a more innovative, multimodal approach, combining mass transit, bikeways, new parks to improve air quality and more efficient ways of moving cargo. Pasadena-based AIDS Service Center (ASC), one of Los Angeles County’s most distinguished non-profits helping people living with HIV/AIDS, is apparently closing its doors. For 28 years ASC has relied on Federal monies. In 2012, the government’s funding model changed, requiring ASC to provide medical care to its clients rather than through a third party. In an effort to make certain there was no interruption in care, ASC delegated its federally contracted programs to the Pasadena Public Health Department to deliver these medical services. The transition of medical care to an outside organization reduced ASC’s overhead yet also eliminated a primary source of funding. The organi-

Changes to the Sierra Madre Dial-A-Ride and fixed route Gateway Coach services take effect June 1. 2015. DialA-Ride services in Sierra Madre will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Dial-A-Ride services are available to Sierra Madre residents that are 62 years of age or older, or have a signed form by a physician attesting to a disability that hinders mobility. The cost of a one-way fare is $2. Dial-A-Ride travels up to two miles outside the City, however on Tuesdays one can travel as far east as Duarte’s City of Hope and on Thursdays one can travel as far west as Huntington Memorial Hospital.
