Local Martial Arts Teacher Arrested for ‘Inappropriate Physical Contact’ With 3 Minors
El Monte Against AB 109 Criminal Rehabilitation Center On Tuesday night during the public comment section of the El Monte City Council meeting, many outraged citizens came to protest the opening of a County Rehabilitation Center for AB 109 offenders that County Officials claimed would lower crime and improve public safety overall. Members of the Council listened as resident after resident gave reasons as to why they opposed the county building a facility designed to ease the flood of offenders released from county jail back into civilian population. Bobby Entzminger, Probation Director with Special Services Bureau – AB 109, claimed that the offenders are currently backed up in County and opening a facility in El Monte would (along with pre-existing facilities in Pomona and
Pasadena-based AIDS Service Center (ASC), one of Los Angeles County’s most distinguished non-profits helping people living with HIV/AIDS, is apparently closing its doors. For 28 years ASC has relied on Federal monies. In 2012, the government’s funding model changed, requiring ASC to provide medical care to its clients rather than through a third party. In an effort to make certain there was no interruption in care, ASC delegated its federally contracted programs to the Pasadena Public Health Department to deliver these medical services. The transition of medical care to an outside organization reduced ASC’s overhead yet also eliminated a primary source of funding. The organi-

On Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 12:15 a.m., El Monte Police Officers received information that a local Martial Arts Instructor from the Elite Kung Fu Training Academy at 10423 Valley Blvd., El Monte had inappropriate physical contact with a juvenile. An investigation ensued which identified Elite Kung Fu Instructor Derick Lee (DOB 7/27/65) of Temple City as the suspect. Lee was located and arrested by El Monte Police Detectives
