On Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Monrovia Fire Department requested additional resources from Arcadia and Los Angeles County fire depts. to battle a structure fire at 406 South Canyon when they learned the fire had apparently spread into the three-unit building’s attic. Firefighters and Monrovia police quickly evacuated the immediate area. Division Chief Brad Dover of Monrovia Fire said the fire started in the laundry room and was electrical in origin and quickly spread through units B and C due to the wood frame. Division Chief Dover said the fire literally “climbed the wall and got into the attic.”
