Every year Pasadena says “Thank you!” to America’s veterans, salutes their service, honors their sacrifices, and promises their dedication to our nation will never be forgotten. The free, annual Veterans Day commemoration at Centennial Square in front of Pasadena City Hall will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, and will end with a flyover by the Condor Squadron of World War II-era planes at 11:11 a.m. At 11:30 a.m. the salute to veterans will continue when everyone is invited to the Pasadena Senior Center, just down the block at 85 E. Holly St., where hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and cherry cobbler will be served. Entertainment will be provided by The Bob and Bernie Show. All 14 at-grade rail crossings now complete for Foothill Gold Line On the heels of last week’s completion of all light rail track installation for the Foothill Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) announced today that the agency has achieved another major milestone for the project – completion of all 14 at-grade (or street-level) crossings for the 11.5-mile light rail extension. The final grade crossing work, at Mountain Ave, was completed this week – three months ahead of schedule. Work began on the grade crossings in February 2013, and required long-term closures of each street. Each grade crossing received upgrades to underground utilities, the roadway, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, in addition to installation of light rail track,

Alhambra man dies after a fist fight with roommate Saturday morning at approximately 1:00 a.m. Pasadena officers responded to the 100 block of South Raymond Avenue regarding a person down on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Joseph Rafael, 31, of Alhambra. Rafael was found unresponsive and officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived. Rafael was then transported to a local area hospital where he died from his injuries Officers learned the victim and a suspect, Giorgio Bustamante, 30, of Alhambra, were roommates and had been attending a birthday celebration in Old Pasadena. Rafael and Bustamante reportedly became involved in an argument with each other that escalated into a physical altercation.
