BY TERRY MILLER The Sierra Madre Rose float is an animated spectacle this year, sporting a flapping tail fish and a really cool rocking boat. The total length of the float is 49 feet long and 25 feet high and no doubt

will garner yet another in a long history of awards for the independent float builder. Sierra Madre Rose Float Association President Robert Young emphasized the importance of volunteers helped with the construction effort this year.

LASD officer shoots 2 suspects Sunday near Monrovia Sheriff’s homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the Deputy Involved shooting which occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 1:20 a.m. Detectives have learned that O.S.S. detectives saw a male with a gun at Ivory and Galen Streets, in the City of Duarte. A male Suspect entered a vehicle and a brief pursuit and ensued. The pursuit, which lasted for approximately 30 seconds, ended when the vehicle collided with a curb at the 2400 block of El Toro Rd, Monrovia County area. One of two suspects brandished a firearm, which resulted in a deputy involved shooting. Two Suspects were wounded and transported to a local hospital with unknown conditions. The suspects

Pigott – who grew up in San Francisco – was recently honored by the Arcadia City Council for his service to this country during the war. Pigott said he initially said started serving with the Navy on the East Coast, but that quickly changed to the West Coast and the Pacific. “That was in the Atlantic,” he said. “Then we went into the

-Courtesy Photo A small brush fire broke out near the 210 Freeway at Irwindale Avenue in Irwindale Monday afternoon. Crews responded to the 2nd alarm brush fire around 12:40 p.m. The fire burned approx.. two acres. Super scoopers and Erikson crane choppers in addition to LA County Fire choppers attacked the fire.
