California’s leading example on climate change helped inspire US-China agreement by jennifer schlueter Last Wednesday, President Barack Obama and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jingping have agreed on drastically fighting climate change by capping greenhouse gases. By 2025, the Unites States wants to cut its harmful emissions below 2005 levels to 26-28%, as AlterNet reports. Instead of only promising to decrease the rapid growth rate of its emissions, China now “has agreed to cap its output by 2030 or earlier if possible,” according to AlterNet. Even though China and the US have their different views on human rights, economics and politics, their leaders certainly agree about their obligations as the “world’s largest economies and greatest emitters of greenhouse gases,” as Obama titled them at a press conference. “We have special responsibility to lead the global effort against climate change. I am proud we can announce a historic agreement. Police officer hospitalized after gang sweep by Vickie Vértiz On November 7, a San Bernardino police officer was hospitalized after he was injured and knocked unconscious because an unmanned car crashed into his squad car. The officer crossed Waterman Avenue and noticed a white Accord moving oddly, perhaps with a drunk driver inside, reported the San Bernardino County Sun.

A gang sweep earlier that night scared off the driver of the Honda Accord, leaving the car to barrel down Base Line Road without a driver. The central station of the sheriff had already had a busy day. An officer who was involved in the gang sweep that night had tried to pull over an older-model, white Honda Accord that had been reported stolen that same

Dominguez Elementary School grand opening and partnership ceremony Dorene Dominguez, Chairman of The Vanir Foundation in Memory of H. Frank Dominguez, San Bernardino Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Dale Marsden and the Vanir Foundation Board of Directors celebrate the grand opening and partnership of the H. Frank Dominguez Elementary School. The festivities included a school adoption by Cross Walk Church, first grade singers, and a special presentation of the H. Frank Dominguez plaque by Dorene Dominguez. After the ceremony, a mariachi band led guests to a reception followed by school tours by Dominguez Elementary school students. The Vanir Foundation is pleased to announce their new partnership with H. Frank Dominguez Elementary School.
