According to a coroner’s report quoted, Jacobs, who was 45, was shot and killed Tuesday, July 8, when he answered his front door at 10 p.m. Residents who spoke to Sun reporters said that in their apartment complex gun shots are heard much too often. Another victim in this crime was an 18-year-old woman, the daughter of Jacobs, who was shot in the stomach. Police said that she is stable condition. A police statement said that police responded to a report of gunshots at the Waterman Apartment complex on the 2600 block of South Copper Lane. Jacobs was found critically injured in the doorway of his apartment from a gunshot. He died at the

The three dudes left.” No suspects have been identified, but they did identify a young man who is wanted for questioning. The young man is Khan, Shazad Mohammad, also known as, “Knox.” He is a 23 year-old Black man, weighs 140 lbs,, and stand 5’10”, with black hair and brown eyes. Officers have responded to more than 30 calls from the area near the Waterman Apartments for issues such as a stabbing, the homicide mentioned here, and numerous domestic violence disturbances, according to the Sun
The other homicide that week occurred late Monday night when two men walked up to a smoke shop on East Base Line and fired at five people, injuring one critically. Orlando Wayne Hunt Jr. of Beaumont who was only 24-years-old, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Police do not believe the Hunt homicide was related to the Tuesday night episode. Early morning fire displaces four families On July 8, fire crews dispatched to reports of a residential structure fire in the 700 Block of West 9th Street. The arriving Firefighters discovered a twostory converted multi-family home with fire on the 1st floor, spreading rapidly to the 2nd floor. Frantic residents rushed arriving firefighters claiming a fam-
ily member was unaccounted for and thought to be trapped in the structure. Firefighters rushed into the burning building and commenced an aggressive interior search for fire victims. They found that all occupants had safely evacuated the structure. This home had been previously converted into a multi-unit
dwelling now housing four different families. The Red Cross was summoned to assist with ten adults and ten children that were displaced by the fire. No working smoke detectors were found in the building. SBFD Arson investigators remained on scene investigating and interviewing potential witnesses.
California State University, San Bernardino received the highly prestigious designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cyber Defense Education from the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This designation covers academic years 2014 through 2021. The College of Business and Public Administration’s Cyber Security Center at CSUSB, under the direction of professor and director Tony Coulson, was touted for its “ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria that will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure,” said Karen Leuschner, national CAE program director for the NSA. Leuschner also noted that cyber security education is the key to defending America’s cyberspace against those who would attempt to disrupt the nation’s vital assets and core principles.
