The Blues in Wasaga Beach Welcome to Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues! Welcome to three incredible days of live music, community spirit and unforgettable entertainment at the 14th Annual Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues! We are thrilled to bring music lovers together once again in beautiful Wasaga Beach for a weekend filled with outstanding performances, great food, local vendors and the unmistakable energy that only a live music festival can create. Our Artistic Director, Gabor Szepesi, has truly outdone himself this year, broadening the festival’s musical mix and delivering an exciting lineup! With our two stages, this year’s lineup offers something for everyone, including an exciting mix of blues, rock, reggae, soul, tribute performances and more. From the first note on Friday evening to the final performance on Sunday, our talented artists are ready to deliver a weekend of music that will have you singing, dancing and discovering new favourites. We are delighted to welcome operatic tenor Kurt Lehmann, who will perform our national anthem, “O Canada,” following the festival’s official opening remarks. As you explore the festival, we encourage you to enjoy everything the weekend has to offer. Gabor Szepesi Following graduation, Gabor Szepesi pursued a full-time career in music, touring extensively with acclaimed bands and artists including Bloodstone, Mango, Justin Paige, Grant Smith, Lenny Solomon, Charity Brown, Janet Harper, The Ryan Brothers, Laurie Schedler, Atlantis, Better Late, Ultrasound and Sweet Blindness. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Gabor was an active session musician, recording at many of Toronto’s premier recording studios and appearing in live-to-air television music productions on CHCH and CTV. After relocating to Wasaga Beach in 2016, Gabor quickly became an integral part of the region’s vibrant music community. He continues to perform regularly at clubs, concerts and festivals throughout Ontario with the Mike McCarthy Band, Lisa Hutchinson, Rosie’s Smokehouse Deluxe and The Bloodflowers, while also returning to Toronto for select recording sessions. As Artistic Director of the Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, Gabor is responsible for curating the festival’s exceptional musical lineup and shaping its artistic vision. His extensive experience as both a performer and industry professional enables him to attract outstanding talent while creating a festival program that appeals to blues enthusiasts and music lovers of every genre. Under his artistic direction, the festival continues to broaden its musical offerings while maintaining the authenticity and excellence that audiences have come to expect. Gabor is proud to be part of the dedicated team behind the Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues and remains committed to delivering an unforgettable live music experience for the community and visitors alike.

The Last Waltz
A Musical Celebration of The Band
By popular demand, one of Ontario’s most talked about acts makes its return to the festival. The performance features an all-star Canadian cast of award-winning blues and roots musicians, under the direction of Juno award winning producer and musical director, Lance Anderson. They are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of THE BAND’s final concert in 1976 and The BAND’s amazing contribution to our shared Canadian musical heritage. This show has thrilled audiences at the Mariposa Folk Festival, Beaches Jazz Festival, Kitchener Blues Festival, Ottawa City Folk Festival, Peterborough Music Fest, CNE Bandshell and Norfolk County Fair. It has also Sold Out theatres in Ottawa, Peterborough, Uxbridge, London, Orillia, Gravenhurst, North Bay (and many more). This is an all-star line-up, featuring Jerome Levon Avis (Levon Helm’s godson), on drums and vocals with special guests and a nine-piece band. Bill Avis, Jerome’s father and former Road Manager of The Hawks/The Band will also make an appearance with a story of his time on the road with his brothers from his youth. Led by musical director Lance Anderson, the band consists of veteran guitar player Terry Blersh, (Bobby Dupont Band), Wayne Deadder bass (Brooks and Bowskill), Rob Gusevs, organ (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and a four piece horn section of Toronto’s finest players.
Special guests like Chuck Jackson (Downchild Blues Band), and Quisha Wint and Matt Weidinger (Matchedash Parish) will join in the celebration. The performance will recreate the atmosphere of The Band’s final concert, which was captured in Martin Scorcese’s award-winning concert film, The Last Waltz. On the American Thanksgiving of 1976 at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom, The BAND invited many of their friends to join in their farewell concert celebration. These friends included Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Dr John and Canadians Neil Young and Joni Mitchell and others who performed with The Band on this special night. “What makes this performance special is the connection these musicians have to the music,” says Anderson. “They love the music and perform these tunes from the heart.” (Note: guest artists are subject to change due to shifting schedules.)

Always entertaining and definitely unique, Mudmen are a blast of Celtic energy whose members are known to be characters both on and off the stage. First discovered as “The Campbell Brothers”, the Brothers signed a record deal with EMI Records changing their name to “Mudmen” in the late 90’s. Re established in 1998 Mudmen have performed at festivals, theatres, events & clubs in 8 different countries with over 3000 shows to date and 11 studio albums. Mudmen’s music has been featured Xbox and PlayStation video games, NBC’s television show “The Black Donnelly’s”, WWE Wrestling, 6 Don Cherry Rock’ em Sock’ em hockey video’s, HBO’s Shameless, Hockey Night in Canada’s “Coach’s Corner” 6 music videos on Much Music/MTV reaching #19 on the Edge radio top 20 countdown. LMT Connection It begins… Veteran soul group LMT Connection has been turning music fans into full-blown funkateers for more than 37 years, playing over 7000 shows, helmed by a front man on the cusp of his 80th birthday. True masters of their craft, they’ve toured internationally and released seven self-produced albums independently, without the support of a record company. Born in Atlanta and raised in Detroit, singer/guitarist Leroy Emmanuel was not only an active member of Motown’s thriving music community at its height, supporting the likes of Marvin Gaye, Bohannon, and Bettye Lavette, but an influential artist in his own right, earning a significant cult following with his group The Fabulous Counts (Westbound Records). Not long after a serendipitous relocation to Niagara Falls, Canada, Emmanuel founded LMT Connection with drummer Mark Rogers and bassist John Irvine. The year was 1989 and the newly formed trio hit the ground running. Right from the start, they adhered to a philosophy of playing every show with stadium concert intensity, regardless of attendance. This mantra manifested many opportunities for the band along the way, sharing the stage with Al Green, Tower of Power, jazz
organist Joey DeFrancesco, and blues legend BB King on his 80th birthday tour. In time, their original music found its way into the hands of producers, promoters and distributors in Europe, which opened new doors overseas, and connected LMT with the worldrenowned Chops Horns. The New Jersey-based horn section already had an impressive resume of their own; they had just come off the road with Alicia Keys and were known for having played with The Police, The Rolling Stones, and George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic, to name a few. In 2005, they joined LMT Connection for a monthlong tour of Europe, adding keyboardist Joel Parisien to the mix, and doubling the original line-up to a now expanded six-piece. (As another note of interest, the same personnel, with Parisien up front, would go on to form a highly successful side project called Newworldson, garnering four Juno© nominations – the Canadian equivalent to a Grammy© – for Gospel Album of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013). For LMT Connection, funk is truly the final frontier; the expedition progresses unabated, and the borders continue to be explored and re-drawn.

The Tonewheels The Tonewheels are an Organ Trio from Kitchener, Ontario. The Trio features Matt Weidinger on vocals and the magnificent Hammond Organ, Chris Latta on guitar and Mike Rajna on drums. Starting out in 2018 playing a weekly residency at a local club, the project quickly found its stride. One of the things that made it special from the beginning was the wildly varied inspirations of the members. From Less McCann to Deep Purple, Booker T to Traffic, Dave Brubeck to The Meters, The Tonewheels have always been willing to push themselves to see what’s possible. Regardless of the style or genre, the music is always played from the heart and leaves the audience wanting more.
This journey has led them to a place where they can transition seamlessly between R&B, soul, jazz, blues and even a dash of prog rock without missing a beat. With one album under their belt and another on the way the trio are looking forward to where the music takes them next. One thing is certain, for The Tonewheels, the music comes first.

Miss Emily Miss Emily is an 8th generation Prince Edward County born Soul-Blues-Americana singer/songwriter who recently celebrated her 22nd year as a full-time artist. Originally from Peterborough, Ontario, James Legere began his musical journey at an early age, receiving his first guitar from his father at age 8. Immersed in music from the start, Legere developed into a highly versatile performer — an accomplished guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Now based in Toronto, Legere has spent decades working within the blues, blues-rock, and roots circuits, often as the youngest member in bands whose traditions stretch back generations. A member of Larry Kurtz and the Lawbreakers, whose debut album reached #1 on the Canadian Blues chart, featuring Legere’s guitar work, vocals, and original compositions. In addition to his band work, Legere is a seasoned session guitarist and vocalist, with experience spanning blues, rock, country, pop, oldies, ska, and beyond. His résumé includes performances with Little Caesar and the Consuls, The Corvairs, and the Boyd Gang. A graduate of the Trebas Institute of Recording Arts in Recording Engineering, Legere continues to write, produce, and record original music, bringing a lifetime of craft, tone, and musical honesty to every performance

MacKenzie Blues Band The MacKenzie Blues Band is a Maple Blues Award– winning group based in Owen Sound, Ontario, delivering a high-energy blend of modern blues, rock ’n’ roll, and soul. Known for their gritty sound and electrifying live performances, the band draws inspiration from the raw power of 1970s blues-rock while keeping their music firmly rooted in the present.
The band has twice reached the semi-finals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and is currently recording their third studio album, slated for release in 2026.

Vocalist Tara MacKenzie leads with a commanding presence and a bold, soulful delivery that balances fire and emotional depth. Guitarist Trevor MacKenzie drives the band with a fearless blues style infused with rock and roots influences, earning recognition as one of Canada’s standout players. He is joined by Pete Devlin on co-lead guitar, adding depth and edge to the band’s signature sound. The rhythm section of Joel Dawson on bass and Mike Weir on drums delivers tight, funky grooves. Messenjah Messenjah is a progressive Roots Reggae band founded in Kitchener, Ontario in 1981 by Rupert “Ojiji” Harvey, Errol “Skippah” Blackwood, Eric “Baby Face” Walsh, and Ray “General” Ruddock, later joined by Hal “Saint” Duggan on keyboards. After building a strong following on the Canadian university circuit, they recorded their independent debut Rock You High in California. The album’s success drew the attention of Warner Music Canada, making Messenjah the first Canadian reggae band signed to a major label. With Warner’s support, Rock You High was re-released in 1983, bringing reggae to mainstream Canadian radio for the first time, followed by the 1984 album Session, whose title track “Jam Session” gained national TV exposure. The band toured internationally, performed at major events in Jamaica including Reggae Sunsplash, and saw several lineup changes as members pursued solo careers and new musicians stepped in. Through the late 1980s and 1990s, Messenjah continued to evolve under Harvey’s leadership, producing hits like “Cool Operator” and “Crazy,” appearing in the Tom Cruise film Cocktail, and performing at major venues across North America. After playing the SkyDome for Nelson Mandela in 1998, members amicably went their separate ways while still collaborating onstage, and that same year the band earned a JUNO Award for Catch De Vibe. With various lineup changes over the years, Messenjah remained active, and in 2013–2014 Warner Music Canada digitally re-released Session and Rock You High to coincide with a reunion tour, marking a new chapter for one of Canada’s most influential reggae bands.

Joe Murphy
+ The Water Street Blues Band Joe Murphy has been a fixture in the East Coast blues scene for the past forty years. He got his start sitting in with Dutch Mason in 1972, and played harp and guitar on Dutchie’s last album, Half Ain’t Been Told. Murphy also contributed harp to Garrett Mason’s Juno Award winner I’m Just A Man, and has played with most of the blues acts who’ve come east in the last thirty years. His Water Street Blues Band has backed up Otis Rush, Johnnie Johnson, Johnny Sansone, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne and the late great Pinetop Perkins, to name a few. Joe’s most memorable gigs include playing harp for three nights with John Lee Hooker, and a wonderful week playing harp for Sunnyland Slim. A Halifax institution, Joe Murphy & The Water Street Blues Band have one of the longest running blues matinees in Halifax, playing every Saturday at

Big Motor Gasoline Big Motor Gasoline (BMG) has certainly made a significant impact in the southern rock scene since their 2016 debut. Their journey from the release of Fuel to Burn to their latest album Devil At Your Door highlights their resilience and evolution as a band. Their debut album caught the attention of audiences worldwide, and with tracks like “Dirty Politician” resonating strongly during the 2016 elections, they quickly established themselves on the airwaves. Subsequent singles such as “Vodka” and “Lately” found favor in several US states, and Fuel to Burn made a notable impact on Canadian radio charts with “BYOT.” The band’s ability to overcome member changes and a global pandemic with the release of The Way Things Used To Be in 2020 speaks to their dedication and adaptability. Mike McKenna’s Mike McKenna – guitar and vocals Mike McKenna is one of Canada’s top blues and rock guitarists. As part of the early 60s Yorkville scene, Mike was a major force in the establishment of the electric blues in Canada. He has been wowing crowds for more than 60 years with such seminal bands as McKenna Mendelson Mainline, Luke & The Apostles, Downchild, Ugly Ducklings, Diamondback, and the Guess Who. Mike was inducted into the Canada South Blues Society Hall of Fame in 2013, and nominated for the “Blues with a Feeling” Maple Blues Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. In addition to Slidewinder, Mike still performs regularly with Luke & the Apostles, as well as the McKenna Moonah Blues Duo.
Slidewinder Blues Band Charlie Hinkel – bass and vocals
Charlie Hinkel brings his funky style of bass playing and strong vocal chops to Slidewinder. His association with the late singer and guitarist Wayne Buttery lasted more than 20 years. He has been a member of a number of bands including West Avenue, Jeannette Brantley, Joey Hollingsworth, Paul Christopher, The Barrel Works Band and Stir It Up. Charlie has also guested with innumerable acts including Jon Finley, Carol Baker, Roly Platt, Larry Kurtz, Lance Anderson, Jonny Max, George Olliver, and many more. Dave Breckels – drums Dave Breckels landed his first professional job at 16, backing Jack London from The Sparrows (later known as Steppenwolf.) He was a member of the band Shooter, playing on hit records including “I Can Dance” and “Train.” He has gone on to perform with a huge range of artists including Brutus, Jack De Keyzer, Wendel Ferguson, Michael Fonfara, Chuck Jackson, Cheryl Lescom, and Rik Emmett to name just a few. Dave is a veteran of studio and TV work, including a stint on CBC’s Gene Taylor backing guests like Chita Rivera, Doug Henning, Salome Bay, and Mickey Dolenze from The Monkees. Jay Moonah – harmonica, guitar, organ, vocals
Tom Robertson – vocals, guitar and harmonica Tom Robertson grew up on the music of Albert King, Ten Years After, and all the blues greats. His first professional gig was with the Dutch Mason Blues Band. He went on to perform with various groups in the Brampton region throughout the 70s, as well as playing for rockabilly legend Rompin’ Ronnie Hawkins and award-winning country artist Michelle Wright. Tom has a long association with Mike McKenna, having played with Mainline and the Mike McKenna Band, as well as Slidewinder.

Jay Moonah is a harmonica player, singer, and multiinstrumentalist with more than 30 years experience on the Ontario music scene. He has played with countless bands, including indie-roots-rockers Uncle Seth and retro-folk act The McFlies. In 2021, Jay’s oneman band Broke Fuse was nominated for a Maple Blues Award in the New Artist of the Year category. In additional to Broke Fuse and Slidewinder, Jay also performs with Mike in the McKenna Moonah Blues Duo.

Since 2023, they have added several festival gigs, including the OLG Main stage of Kempenfest, and the main stages of The Buttertart Festival, The Tugboat Festival, The All Things Canadian Festival, The Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular and The Great Northern Exhibition. Moreover, they played an evening concert on the Theatre stage of the Parry Sound Stockey Centre.
93 North 93 North is a five piece powerhouse band! Created in late 2021, these veteran recording musicians had several objectives. Their first was to bring great live music into the lives of those who for several years had been dragged down by the COVID 19 pandemic. Since May of 2022, the band has been performing at events large and small: Festival gigs; Fairs; Private functions;
Their evening performances for the towns of Midland, Penetanguishene, Innisfil, Balm Beach, … have allowed them to raise over $4,500 for various local food banks. It’s clear that they have surpassed their original objectives, however, 93 North had one other objective, and that was to also play original songs along with the great cover tunes that they choose to perform. Since, 2023, the band has included and featured original works by Suzanne Carlson, Carl Rabinowitz and Neil Lefaive.

We suggest that you should bring your own lawn chairs.
What if it rains?
The live music will go on, rain or shine unless conditions are considered hazardous. Covered areas are available on a first come, first served basis.
What should I wear?
It is an outdoor, evening event so dress appropriately for the weather.
Can I bring a cooler?
Coolers and/or picnics are permitted, however, bylaws do not allow outside liquids to be brought into the festival grounds. Bags are subject to search and liquids will be emptied. Beer, wine, alcohol coolers, pop and water will be available for sale in the licensed area of the festival. Food will be available in the Vendor’s Villages and at the various licensed restaurants throughout the Stonebridge Town Centre. A Quench Buggy will be located near the information booth, where you can refill your water bottle for free!
Do they take credit cards in the festival area?
Cash only at the festival. An ATM Machine is available on site.
Children
Children are welcome. Entry to the festival is free for children 12 and under.
How late do the shows go?
Approximately 11pm. Friday and Saturday, 8pm on Sunday.
Security/Policing
For your safety, there is security presence in the festival area.
Lost & Found
The lost and found is located at the information booth.
First Aid
The First Aid is located in the Vendor’s Village.
Wheelchair Access + Provisions
The festival area is located on grass and it may be difficult for maneuvering a wheelchair. A Handicapped Porta Potty is available. No wheelchairs or walking assisted equipment is available at the Festival.
Smoking
“NO SMOKING” signage will be posted in key areas throughout the Festival grounds, and periodic stage announcements will be made regarding the smoking restrictions. Patrons must not smoke or vape within the festival grounds. If the Wasaga Beach Blues festival personnel observe a patron smoking or vaping within the festival grounds, that patron will be politely asked by Festival security to cease smoking or vaping. Our aim is to “educate” not “eject”, but if non-compliance persists, security personnel, or if necessary, OPP will be asked to intervene. A smoking area is setup outside the festival grounds.

Eye’s of Violet Junior Jam The Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues Junior Jam provides local kids with an opportunity to perform with professionals in front of an audience. All the while developing and building their musical skills in a fun, friendly and accessible way. Blues music is roots music, and the youth are our roots. What better way to pass the torch than to have experienced artists guiding our youth in a live stage environment. Eyes of Violet is a jazz fusion group bringing a youthful touch to the local music scene. Founded by bassist and composer Sophia Moore, the band evolved from the Collingwood Collegiate music rooms to the regional festival circuit without missing a beat. The quartet, featuring Moore on bass, Ben Zadok on drums, Maximilian Alexander Ochocinski on guitar, and Rowan Taylor on keys, is building a reputation for technical, grooveheavy performances. From local fundraisers to outdoor concert stages, they’re becoming a goto name for live music across Simcoe and Grey County.
