in Wasaga Beach: when the beaches get quieter, the Steve September mornings get cooler and everyone suddenly says, “Where did the Says... summer go?”

The revitalization is moving ahead, one brick, one sidewalk and one construction project at a time. Steve says, “At least we're getting somewhere!” The kids are back to school. Parents are celebrating. Teachers are recovering. And the school bus drivers are wondering what they did to deserve this. Back-to-school shopping is proof that children can outgrow perfectly good clothing faster than Costco can put up a wall. Another Back to the Beach concert is in the books. The good news? Nobody wanted it to end. The bad news? Some of us needed Monday to recover. Summer may be over, but in Wasaga Beach we're still trying to figure out where the last three months went. Chicago Transit brought the house down at Back to the Beach. Technically, there wasn't a house — but you get the idea.

The only thing moving faster than the music at Back to the Beach was the crowd heading toward the dance floor. After Chicago Transit, quite a few Wasaga residents discovered that their dancing shoes still work. Their knees may disagree. The new Costco is expected in November. Finally, a place where you can buy 48 rolls of toilet paper and somehow convince yourself it's a reasonable purchase. Costco is coming to town — which means some residents are already planning their first trip. Others are planning where they're going to store everything they buy. The beach may be quieter in September, but around Wasaga there's still plenty happening. Apparently, somebody forgot to tell summer to leave. Fall is coming. The leaves will change, the temperatures will drop and somebody will still be wearing shorts on the beach.
