High School Scholar Bowl had a great first meet last night, March 6th, at Craig. They won Round 1 against Craig (240-30). Rounds 2 and 3 were losses, but they were close matches that came down to the last question: Jefferson (150-190) and Fairfax (120-150). Returning team member, Junior Grayson Moore, thinks “we could have won all three rounds if we’d been a little more confident about buzzing in and answering in general.” Senior Gavin Moore, this year’s Team Captain, was our top scorer of the night, earning 160 points on toss-up questions. Toss-up points are accumulated throughout the season to determine All-Conference titles. This year’s team consists of fourteen students, including 3 seniors, 6 juniors, 1 sophomore, and 4 freshmen. Senior Gavin Moore is Team Captain. The next meet is Tuesday, March 11th, here at DeKalb. Start time is 4:30pm, and matches will be against, Tarkio, NodawayHolt, and Rock Port.
