The High School Scholar Bowl team had two meets this past week, hoping to come back strong from 3 disappointing losses at Nodaway-Holt on March 5th. On Tuesday, March 12, they hosted play here at home, where they won their first round against West Nodaway (130-90), but fell to Mound City (140-420) and South Holt (240-130) in succeeding rounds. Last night at South Nodaway, they won both rounds in close matches with the home team (280-260) and Northeast Nodaway (150-110). The team may be a little smaller than last year, but it has many returning players looking to score big. Headed by Senior Rawley Mydland and Junior Gavin Moore, the team has many players who haven’t had much playing time, so the team is working hard to increase knowledge and confidence. Coach Amy Miller, has started holding practices before school and during Study Hall to keep her players on their toes between meets. While she has coached Scholar Bowl before at the Middle School level, she says, “High School Scholar Bowl is more competitive, since scholars are trying to do better each game to try and letter and earn All-Conference titles.” The team will attend their last regular season match on Tuesday, March 19th, at North Nodaway, and then go on to District play in King City on April 13th.
