ancy Wilson is celebrated as a seminal musician in rock ‘n’ roll history. A guitar virtuoso from the age of 9, Wilson (and her sister Ann Wilson) have led the multi-platinum rock group, Heart, who have sold upwards of 35 million albums. Wilson is revered as an ingenious guitar player, blending elements of flamenco and classical guitar with hard rock, and she’s also a gifted vocalist as can be heard on Heart’s first Number One hit, “These Dreams.” As a songwriter, she has co-written a collection of indelible songs that has earned its way into the classic rock canon (“Magic Man,” “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On”). In 2013, Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Heart’s debut album, “Dreamboat Annie,” was followed by “Little Queen” in 1977 which reached number 11 on the Billboard charts. The band’s third album, “Magazine,” was released pre-emptively with unfinished tracks and was later recalled. The group’s fourth release, “Dog & Butterfly,” was written over the course of a single day and released in 1978, selling a million copies within the first month and going platinum, the band’s fourth million-selling album.

Heart’s fifth album, “Bébé le Strange,” was released on Valentine’s Day 1980. The band’s sixth album, “Private Audition,” was released in June 1982 and sold only 400,000 copies; it peaked at number 25 on Billboard. Next up was “Heart,” followed by “Bad Animals,” “Desire Walks On” and even a Christmas album. In total, Heart has released around 18 albums as a group, and in 2019, Nancy Wilson released her own solo album, “You and Me.” Wilson has also built a successful career as a film composer, including scores for the Cameron

Crowe (now her ex-husband) films “Say Anything…,” “Almost Famous,” “Vanilla Sky” and “Elizabethtown.” During an era when females in rock and roll were scarce, Nancy Wilson carved out a place for women to front rock bands and dominate on stage.
