The trust’s outreach and public engagement teams launched the program in response to the stayat home order. Citizen scientists who participate can become desert experts with information on pollinators, wildflowers and owls, to name just a few of the subjects. Go online to find a kids’ basketball hoop and soft ball you can hang over the door. Look for a dartboard with magnetic darts. If you have an old Nintendo Wii console, hook it up and get some exercise with the bowling and tennis. If you have an indoor hobby, call your closest store and ask if they have curbside pickup or can mail supplies to you. Put “online craft tutorials” in your internet browser for new ideas. Tune up your guitar and order new strings.

And what better way to celebrate than with this scrumptious pie! • 4 cups sliced fresh strawberries • 1 (6-ounce) graham cracker pie crust • 1 (4-serving) package sugar-free vanilla cook-and-serve pudding mix • 1 (4-serving) package sugar-free strawberry gelatin • 1 1/2 cups water

1. Evenly arrange strawberries in pie crust. In a large saucepan, combine dry pudding mix, dry gelatin and water. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and starts to boil, stirring often. Spoon hot sauce evenly over strawberries. 2. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Cut into 8 servings. In a small bowl, combine whipped topping, vanilla extract and red food coloring. Top each piece with a full tablespoon of topping mixture. Serves 8. Q: When will the season finale of “S.W.A.T.” air? Were they done filming before the pandemic stopped production? -- E.O. A: The final episode of the current season of “S.W.A.T.” should air May 20 on CBS. Many shows had to cut their seasons short by a few episodes, but “S.W.A.T.” only had to shave it by one. The “missing” episode is an eventful one that reflects back on the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The original air date was supposed to be April 29, which was the 28th anniversary of the riots. According to Deadline.com, Shawn Ryan, the showrunner behind “S.W.A.T.,” stated that the flashback-heavy hour now “will probably become either our season premiere or an early episode in season four, but we WILL get around to filming that episode, because that’s a special one, to look back at the riots through the perspective of a teenage Hondo [Shemar Moore].” Q: I want to see the new series “Mrs. America” about the ERA movement, but I don’t have Hulu. I’m tired of there being so many streaming services, and I don’t want to pay all the monthly fees, so I’m just keeping cable and that’s it. Will “Mrs. America” be on DVD or something someday? -- K.J. A: The streaming service Hulu has made a deal with the FX channel to air all its content, but “Mrs. America” is the first FX show to premiere on Hulu first. A: If you’re referring to Bob Odenkirk, who plays the sneaky lawyer Jimmy, AKA Saul, on the “Breaking Bad” spinoff, it was actually his son, Nathan, who had the coronavirus. Fortunately he’s recovered, and it looks like Bob did not contract the bug. Odenkirk started out his career as a writer for sketch comedy shows like “Saturday Night Live,” and Nathan appears to have inherited his father’s talents, as he’s writing for the humor magazine “Inquirist.” Nathan previously worked a production assistant on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and also has a few acting credits. Fortunately, “Better Call Saul” had already finished production of season five before the pandemic, so this is one series that isn’t being postponed or cut short. Chicken Tetrazzini wit Spring Peas Casserole • 1 (7 ounce) package vermicelli • 1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil • 1/2 cup fresh, sliced shiitake, Portobello, cremini (or porcini) mushrooms • 3 ounces finely chopped prosciutto • 3 cups chopped cooked chicken (rotisserie chicken works well) • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) shredded Parmesan cheese • 2 cups Alfredo and Parsley sauce (recipe follows) • 3/4 cup chicken broth • 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper • 1 cup fresh or frozen baby English peas, thawed • 1/2 cup slivered almonds

Alfredo and Parsley Sauce (Makes 2 cups) • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning • 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg • 18 teaspoon cayenne pepper • 2 cups heavy cream • 2 cups grated Parmesan or Romano cheese • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium low heat. Add garlic, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, nutmeg and cayenne pepper. Remove pan from heat and stir in cream. Turn heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then add cheese and stir quickly, heating through. Stir in parsley and set aside. 2. Heat oven to 350 F. Prepare pasta according to package directions. 3. Heat oil in a large pan over high heat. Saute mushrooms in oil 3 minutes. Add the prosciutto and cook until prosciutto is crisp, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in chicken, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, the Alfredo and Parsley sauce, chicken broth, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper until well-combined. Stir in the peas and the pasta. 4. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 11- by 7-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with almonds and remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Bake for 35 minutes or until bubbly. Serves 6. Part of DEMPS is the National Emergency Medical Response Teams: medical and nonmedical volunteers on call for two months at a time who are able to deploy within 48 hours after either the VA requests help or there is a

That’s when the VA’s DEMPS programs can be activated. The VA isn’t just helping veterans during this coronavirus crisis. Per its fourth mission (to support the country in emergencies), the VA started up its 3D printing network to test designs of medical equipment. Along with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it’s creating 3D prototypes of face shields, masks and ventilators. Additionally, at the request of FEMA, the VA has made 1,500

beds available across the country for nonveterans who need acute and intensive care. In some places it’s sent additional medical staff to state veterans homes, given clinical support to the homeless, loaned a pharmacy trailer to a medical center and built a hospital with 1,000 beds. As of this writing, DEMPS has moved into Louisiana to help with the explosion of coronavirus cases, and the VA is seeking medical professionals to help with intensive care units as well as biomedical technicians with ventilator experience.
