CELEBRATING THE RESIDENTIAL PARK COMMUNITIES FOR 64 YEARS
The Ten Tenors aka âvocal thunder from down underâ By Alison Elsner
T
he Ten Tenors, one of Australiaâs most famous musical exports, comprise a group of performers whose voices generate âpure electricity and undeniable drama,â according to the Los Angeles Times. As part of their U.S. Tour with a stop in Palm Desert, they will be performing a repertoire from their latest album âWish You Were Hereâ as well as material from their hit album âOur Christmas Wish.â An audience favorite, the group continually delights with their vocal prowess, dazzling choreography and Australian humor. Set to present new
songs, classics and holiday music, The Ten Tenors broke the Top Five on Billboardâs Classical Albums chart earlier this year. Their album, âWish You Were Here,â consists of material associated with iconic performers who have passed on, including Prince, David Bowie, Michael Hutchence of INXS, John Lennon, Amy Winehouse, Queenâs Freddie Mercury, Roy Orbison and others. Selections from âOur Christmas Wishâ include traditional standards such as âJoy to the Worldâ and âO Holy Night,â as well as John Lennon and Yoko Onoâs âHappy Xmas (War Is Over),â âFeliz Navidadâ by JosĂŠ Feliciano, âWhite Christmasâ
by Irving Berlin and Mariah Careyâs relatively recent contribution to the canon of holiday standards, âAll I Want for Christmas Is You.â Now enjoying their 21st year together, The Ten Tenors playfully blend rock, pop and opera and are âtruly incandescent when performing at the full strength of 10â according to Variety. The Ten Tenors have appeared on âThe Today Show,â âOprahâs Australian Adventure,â and âExtreme Makeover: Home Edition,â among other shows. More than 90 million people worldwide have attended their live performances, and they have shared the stage with Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Willie
Nelson, Alanis Morissette and Christina Aguilera. More than just a stage presence, the group is a force in the world of charity, too. They are donating net proceeds for every copy of âOur Christmas Wishâ sold in the U.S. to St. Jude Childrenâs Research Hospital in support of childhood cancer and diseases. Prepare to be thoroughly entertained, mate. The Ten Tenors will perform on November 23 and 24 at 8 p.m., November 24 and 25 at 2 p.m. McCallum Theatre is located at 73000 Fred Waring Drive in Palm Desert.
