King’s Walk Match Play League: Rules

4Play will be 9 holes, match play.

4All players must have a USGA handicap index. The handicap fee is not included in your league dues.

4Players who do not have a season pass at King’s Walk must purchase a 10 round card.

4The USGA Handicap Index will be used in D level matches and any subs playing above their handicap level. In a those cases the low handicap will be subtracted from the highhandicap and divided by two to determine how many holes that player will receive a 1/2 bump.A 1/2 bump is only used to break a tie on a hole.

4Your USGA Handicap Index will be used to determine the level of player you are (i.e. A, B, C, or D).

4Team format--Each team will consist of 4 players. The players will be A, B, C, or D level based on handicap. Following the sign up, the “regulars” will be ranked lowest to highest handicap. The teams will be developed by taking the first 14 players in order and placing them on a team (i.e. the first player on the list is on team 1, the second on team 2, down through team 14). This will complete the ‘A’ players on the teams. For the ‘B’ players, the order is reversed. In other words, the #15 player on the list will go to team 14, the next player on team 13, down to team 1 (which would be player #28). Continue this same pattern for ‘C’ and ‘D’ players.

4Scoring—Scoring will be based on individual matches. During a match, each player will receive 2 points for winning a hole, 1 point for halving a hole, and 0 points for losing a hole. The player who wins the match receives 2 additional points. These 2 points will be split between the players in the case of a tie match. Since points are awarded for each hole, as well as for winning your match, you will play a full 9 holes each evening. At the end of the evening, you must turn in your completed scorecard in order to have your scores posted. If you miss a match without having arranged for a sub to play for you, or contacted your opponent to arrange a make-up you will forfeit that match. Your opponent will be awarded 15 points, and you will receive 0 points. The three best individual scores will be used to compute your teams score for the evening.

4A regular player cannot be used as a sub for another team.

4Sub points—When a regular player obtains a substitute, the points the substitute wins that night will be added to the regular players point totals.

4We will have a 6pm shotgun start each week, so make sure you are at the appropriate tee box before then. Your starting holes are listed later in this booklet. Each week, the two teams playing each other will start on a hole. On a rotating basis, the A’s and B’s will play together one week, the A’s and C’s the next week, and the A’s and D’s the third week. You will always be playing with one of your team members each week.

4There will be a banquet at the end of the year. The cost of the banquet is not included in your league fees.

4Slow play will be strongly discouraged. Everyone is expected to keep pace. Play should conclude by 8pm.

4Rain out—Weather questions should be referred to Dan Tannahill in the Clubhouse. His word is final when it comes to delays or cancellations due to the weather. One cancelled match will be made up on the rain date. Play will resume the following week according to the posted schedule.

4Unexcused Absence—If a player misses one week of play and does not obtain a sub, or notifies his opponent, the player will be issued a warning. If the same player misses a second time without arranging a sub or notifying his opponent, the player will be removed from the league and a new player (from the sub list) will be added to that team.

If you plan to be absent for one of the league nights, the following process should be followed to secure an alternate player:

1. Call each of the appropriate players on the sub list. Every effort should be made to arrange for a sub in the correct handicap range.

2. If you have called all the players on the sub list and can’t find a sub you can match cards the following week with your opponent/or arrange a make-up time.

Playoffs

The top 8 teams will be entered into the Spieth Division for the Playoff and the bottom 6 will be entered into the Wie Division. The Tournaments will be played out in their entirety, meaning that teams will compete for all 8 finishing spots in the Woods Division and all 6 finishing spots in the Wie Division.

TOTAL POINTS IN ALL 4 MATCHES will determine the winner. Ties broken by “A” match first, than “B” match, etc.
