THE BUZZ

BBHHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER
What’s Buzzin’ Alumni? Read below to find out. The Buzz will be on the website in January, July, and October of each year, bringing you more timely information in a quarterly newsletter. Each issue will be more focused on the highlights of what has just passed, and events just ahead. The Buzz will have links, (in blue), to the website for more information. We hope you’ll take advantage of keeping up with the Association and join us for our events and activities throughout the year. Nothing changes with The Pollen Count ... dues paying members can still plan on receiving the paper in the spring.
President’s Message
Welcome to the newsletter for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Alumni Association!
If you are reading this column, you are one of a select group of alumni! As I review the membership roll for the Association, I note that we do not have current contact information for the vast majority of BHS/BBHHS graduates, especially in the more recent classes.
If you have friends or family members who have drifted away from the fold, please remind them that it’s easy and inexpensive to renew their membership status. The first place to start is “Dues Paid” list on the Alumni Association website. If the name is missing, or the dues have expired, click on the links to Pay Dues by Credit Card (uses CheddarUp), or Download Dues Form if you prefer to mail a check. With the holiday season ahead of us, please note that dues renewal ($5/year, or $20/5 years) makes a nice gift!
The next in-person meeting of the Alumni Association will take place at the high school on Tuesday December 9, 2025 at 7:00 PM. The location will be either the Band Room or the Media Center, depending on school activities at meeting time. If you would like to attend in person, please send your email address and ask to be added to the email list for meeting reminders. The reminder email will confirm the location of the meeting. Of course, you are free to attend whether or not you join the email list! Meetings generally last 90 minutes. We would love to see some new faces. We’ve got ideas for future activities – we just need people who are willing to work on the events. And actually, a few more ideas for future events would be welcome!
P.S., the best way to learn about upcoming meetings & events is to visit our website at: https://bbhhsalumni.org/

Use2Bee Marching Band Alumni Event
Once a Bee, Always a Bee — Forever a Use2Bee
Our fifth annual Use2Bees Marching Band Alumni Event on Homecoming Night, September 19, 2025, was a night to remember! The week began with a Monday night rehearsal on the field alongside the BBHHS Marching Bees, where alumni and students joined forces to practice the legendary Script “Bees”, followed by a rehearsal together in the BBHHS Middle School band room. The energy carried through the Homecoming Parade Thursday evening, where the Use2Bees proudly represented generations of Brecksville–Broadview Heights band tradition.
On Friday night, band alumni gathered on the BBHHS stage to reunite, laugh, and prepare to march once more. Lined up with the Marching Bees, they stepped into the stadium to the sound of cheers, joining the band on the field for pregame and then again at halftime for a powerful performance of “25 or 6 to 4” by Chicago. The night reached its high note as the alumni joined in the iconic Script “Bees,” reliving one of BBHHS’s most cherished traditions.
L-r: Ed Bilek '83, Barbara Korecky Consiglio '72. Chuck Catalano '73
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the BBHHS Band Boosters, the BBHHS Music Department, and Band Director Steven Cocchiola and his amazing staff for their support, enthusiasm, and warm welcome in making this event so special. We were deeply honored to have retired band and choir director Chuck Valley as our special announcer, whose familiar voice brought waves of nostalgia to everyone on the field. For one night, 70 alumni were all back home, hearing the drums, feeling the lights, and remembering what it means to be a Marching Bee.
We’ll see you again for Homecoming Night 2026! All BBHHS band alumni from the 1960s through today are invited to join us for another unforgettable night of music, memories, and marching Bee pride. Find us on Facebook @ Use2Bees-BBHHS Alumni Pep Band or email use2bees@gmail.com
