Message from the Mayor Cr Bill Saravinovski
program allows our local community to take part in this celebration of culture. We have some exciting events in the coming months, with a fantastic Winter Wonderland event in Bexley North on Saturday 3 August. This exciting winter festival, made possible thanks to an Open Streets Program grant from Transport for NSW, includes ice skating, market stalls, and winter-themed events for the whole family to enjoy, including a visit from Bluey & Bingo.
The beginning of July was NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In Bayside we relish the opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and our exciting NAIDOC Week
It is a great opportunity to help bring our streets to life and encourage people to enjoy a day out while supporting local businesses. I look forward to seeing you there. The Bayside Spring Fair returns to Jack Mundey Reserve Eastlakes on Saturday 7 September and will celebrate the cultural diversity of Bayside with culinary delights, arts and crafts, live music and entertainment.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone that Council elections will take place on Saturday 14 September and your Ward Boundaries may have changed. To find out which Ward you are in check our interactive map at www.bayside.nsw.gov.au as these changes come into effect at the election. Voting is compulsory for all eligible Australian citizens, so please check the electoral roll and update your details, if necessary, by visiting the NSW Electoral Commission’s website at www.elections.nsw.gov.au or calling 1300 135 736. I look forward to continuing to work with our diverse Bayside community to create a better, brighter future we can all share.
Cr Bill Saravinovski Mayor
