NORTH BATTLEFORD — The new proposed regional arena and events centre in North Battleford, to replace the aging Access Communications Centre, will be a cityowned, regionally supported facility. North Battleford city council voted to proceed with pursuing the project as a municipally-owned entity at its meeting on May 25. The move follows the Regional Arena and Events Centre Steering Committee’s finding that, while regional stakeholders in the Battlefords area expressed strong support for a new facility, there was not a large scale interest in a shared ownership and governance model, according to the release. NORTH BATTLEFORD — The Canadian Country Music Association has announced two recipients of the 2026 Gary Slaight Humanitarian Award. Saskatchewan businessman and philanthropist W. Brett Wilson, from North Battleford, and country music recording artist Brett Kissel, from St. Paul, Alta., were named co-recipients of the award.
