NORTH BATTLEFORD–“Celebrate Saskatchewan” was the theme for the Hazee youth art awards at this year’s competition. The winners of the 2026 awards were announced at a special ceremony at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford on May 5. In the senior category, for the top Hazee award, Jolie Malo was honoured for “Where the Lily Grows.” The artistic achievement award went to Akeira Anseth
for “Prairie Kinship.” The creative excellence award was given to Bethany Kokura for “Nut Point.” The creative excellence award was also given to Lyla Dirksen for “Hidden Current.” In the junior category, junior achievement awards went to Asher Shagan for “Land of Living Skies,” to Yoonji Kim for “A Night Filled with the Aurora,” and to Linh Anh Nguyen for an untitled piece. The competition is open to youth ages six to 18 in the Battlefords area. Continued on page 3
