NORTH BATTLEFORD — A young cadet with 43 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron (RCACS) “The Battlefords” believes being part of the air cadet program will help shape his future career path. Warrant Officer Second Class Matthew Kim was recently honoured with the award for top overall cadet
at the 85th Annual Ceremonial Review at the Don Ross Gymnasium in North Battleford. Kim was one of a number of cadets recognized for their achievements at the ceremony. He was also promoted from flight sergeant to warrant officer second class at the review. Kim said being recognized with the award was important to him.
“It means a lot to me,” the 17-year-old said. “I worked hard for it. I tried my best to earn it. It really means a lot for my future as well, because I’m planning to join the military college when I graduate.” Kim has been in cadets for four years in the Battlefords, after starting his cadet career in 2022. After he finishes cadets, he plans to join the Royal Military College. Continued on page 2
