HOW DID YOUR COMPANY GET ITS START? Before starting Chaos Organizing, I spent 13 years as a teacher. One morning, a child came into my classroom crying because something she needed for school could not be found at home. Later that same day, I was in Target helping a friend choose products to organize her bathroom. As we walked through the aisles, I told her, “I wish I could do this for a living.” Chaos Organizing was born in 2013.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR WORK DO YOU FIND THE MOST REWARDING? Knowing that we have changed people’s lives and brought peace into their homes is the most rewarding part of my work. Every project is different, but the best moment is always when a client stands in the doorway, looks at their space and is happy to be home again.

DOES YOUR COMPANY HAVE ANY NEW DEVELOPMENTS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE? Along with continuing to build custom homes, we’re excited about several upcoming projects. We’re beginning our second spec home in Benton at Magnolia Woods, a new luxury development off Highland Road. Later this year, we’ll also begin building in The Pines at Juban Crossing, where we recently purchased 10 lots and plan to start several spec homes.

Jarreau Construction got its start about 10 years ago with a simple goal: to build high-quality custom homes while giving clients a more personal and enjoyable building experience. Growth has never been about building the most homes.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR WORK DO YOU FIND THE MOST REWARDING? The most rewarding part of what we do is seeing a client’s vision become a home they are truly proud of. Knowing that we helped create a place where they will raise their family, entertain friends, and make memories for years to come is incredibly rewarding.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE DESIGN BUSINESS? When I moved to Baton Rouge, I built and designed my own home, which really started everything for me. From there, I slowly began taking on clients and built my business through trust, referrals and relationships with friends and clients.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR WORK DO YOU FIND THE MOST REWARDING? I love creating beautiful, timeless homes where families can raise their children, entertain and truly live. It’s rewarding to design spaces that can evolve over time rather than constantly needing to be redone. Seeing a project years later and knowing the client still has that same love and joy for their home is one of my favorite parts of what I do.

WHAT IS SPECIAL OR UNIQUE ABOUT CRAFT REALTY | INTERIORS | HOMES? CRAFT began nearly 20 years ago as a homebuilder, and over time we grew into something much more complete. What makes CRAFT unique isn’t simply that we offer three services, it’s how well those services work together.

HOW DID YOUR FAMILY BUSINESS GET ITS START? Cherith and I were building what we thought would be our forever home, but we couldn’t sell the house we were living in, so we put the new one on the market. What started as a problem to solve ended up becoming the foundation of what CRAFT is today.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OR PLANS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE? We have two projects we’re especially excited about right now. The first is Highlake, a gated luxury community in Baton Rouge with just 19 one-acre homesites. WHAT ABOUT YOUR WORK DO YOU FIND THE MOST REWARDING? There are really two things I find most rewarding. The first is getting to work alongside my family every day. My sister Ashlee, my dad David, my wife Cherith, and now our daughter Adlee are all part of the business. The second is helping our clients make wise decisions with their homes.

WHAT IS SPECIAL OR UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR COMPANY? My construction roots began working alongside my father as a carpenter in the mid-‘90s. I later studied construction management, joined the military and spent more than 20 years in large commercial construction. That combination gives us a unique perspective: We understand not only how to build, but how thoughtful design and careful planning impact the finished project.

ARE THERE ANY RECENT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE? This summer, our oldest son, Gavin, joined us while studying business at Southeastern Louisiana University. We’re excited to see where that takes him—and our family business.

HOW DID YOUR COMPANY GET ITS START? Owning a family construction company had been a dream since I was young, but I knew I first needed to learn how to build teams and lead a business. In 2024, after many conversations with my family, it was time to bet on ourselves. Cooper Construction Group officially began operating in January 2025.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR WORK DO YOU FIND THE MOST REWARDING? The most rewarding part is earning our clients’ trust and seeing them enjoy something we helped create for their family. For us, a successful project starts with a strong relationship long before construction begins.

Whether you’re hosting a holiday dinner, having friends over for drinks or spending a casual evening with family, thoughtful design can make gathering feel effortless. At Hillary Hooper Interiors, we think about how each space will actually be used. From kitchens where everyone naturally gathers to outdoor spaces that extend the living areas of the home, the goal is to create a setting where people feel comfortable spending time together.

1. START WITH THE FLOW When designing for entertaining, think about how guests will move through the home. Kitchens, dining rooms and living spaces should connect easily, with enough room for people to move from one area to another without feeling crowded. The same idea applies to outdoor spaces. Easy access to a porch, patio or outdoor kitchen gives guests more room to spread out while still feeling like part of the gathering.

2. MAKE THE KITCHEN PART OF THE PARTY No matter where you plan for guests to gather, everyone always seems to end up in the kitchen. A large island can become a natural gathering place while also providing space for serving and food preparation. Counter seating allows guests to visit with the host without getting in the way. Appliance placement, storage and work areas are also important, especially when the kitchen is full. The goal is to make sure the space works just as well for a house full of guests as it does for everyday life.

3. CREATE PLACES TO GATHER Not every gathering happens around the dining table. Having different seating areas throughout the home gives guests places to sit, talk and get comfortable. In living spaces, chairs, ottomans and smaller stools can be moved around as needed to create conversation areas. Dining rooms should have enough space to comfortably move around the table, while outdoor areas can include separate spots for dining and relaxing.
