We recently completed a major backyard makeover featuring a gorgeous mid-century modern pavilion with an outdoor seating area and fireplace, two outdoor kitchens (one with a pizza oven), tiered landscape “steps,” lighting, concrete paver walkways, a large pool with tanning ledge and spa, and a multi-tiered fountain that overflows into the pool, all enclosed with a painted horizontal fence.

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR STYLE? Our style is inspired by each client and their specific space. Our goal is to make sure our designs complement the rest of the home while enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape.

ARE THERE ANY PROJECTS OR PLANS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH READERS? We are excited about the construction of our new headquarters, which will include office space for our growing team, a showroom, a warehouse with fabrication and woodworking areas, and a vast enclosed laydown yard for materials and inventory.

Our normal concerns as business owners shifted from the daily operations to our employees and their families. We wanted to ensure that they would be paid during the pandemic and by the grace of God, they were. As time went by, we found that our business was going to be fine. We consider ourselves extremely blessed and we pray for those who have been hit much harder than we were.

They stood by and worked hard to keep things going. Many growers cut back, prices have soared, and some products were extremely hard to find. Fortunately, over 40 years of experience and interaction with vendors and growers across the globe helped us meet our customers’ needs with the same quality and service they’ve always enjoyed.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH READERS? I just got back from the gift market in Dallas—all the markets had canceled their shows from March through July. I’m hopeful that school will reopen, football will start up and fall weather will arrive to help people get back to feeling comfortable and secure. We are here to help support Baton Rouge, Denham Springs and the surrounding communities through this trying time and we look forward to the year ahead.

In the beginning of COVID-19, we were not able to meet with clients in person, so we improvised by having Zoom meetings, making design boards, and even leaving samples for clients to pick up “at a distance” to take home and see if they worked for their space. Other challenges were shipping delays and longer than normal lead times. To eliminate these issues, we have worked closely with our clients to order well in advance, keep track of delivery, and install time frames.

Fireplaces are our specialty. It’s all we do each day. However, we love to find unique products such as fireballs, and see how the Baton Rouge area responds. The trends in fireplaces have changed over the past 10 years and finding new products to meet the demands is exciting. Business was slow in March and April and we experienced a fear of the unknown. But as people spent more time than ever in their homes and adapted to virtual appointments and social distancing, the tides changed and we experienced a surge in business. The COVID-19 experience has reinforced what we’ve always known about our excellent employees. By showing up every day, functioning in their many roles and putting in the time it takes to meet our customers’ needs, they allow us to continue to be successful.
