CREATIVE NON-FICTION: FINDING OUR MOMENTS
This workshop is all about finding our ‘moments’ and the memories that resonate with us – what Virginia Woolf calls ‘Moments of Being’, which are like violent shocks in the cotton wool of nonbeing (getting up, making breakfast, going to work). The session will be interactive with writing exercises relevant for fiction and non-fiction – and Dr Lily Dunn will take you through how to write these moments vividly as building blocks for story. The perfect antidote to the blank page.

GOING PLACES WITH GEOGRAPHY: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND YOUR FUTURE CAREER
In this session, you’ll experience what it’s like to study human and physical geography at university and learn about how our modules will prepare you for a diverse range of future careers. You’ll have a short taster lecture in human geography that will show how course content links to real world issues. Then you’ll get to see some of our physical geography equipment such as total stations, differential GPS and drones, and learn about how our geography degree will provide you with the skills to use industry standard technologies and software.

In this session, students will role play different plots, coups and rebellions to shed light on Tudor politics and the ways in which even ordinary people could hold powerand even get away with treason.
