WHY 80 OWEN BLVD. IS A WONDERFUL FAMILY HOME...

We bought 80 Owen in 2002, when it was newly built, and very solidly constructed. We are a family of 5, and our boys were in grades 11, 8 and 6 when we moved in. It proved to be a fabulous home for raising our kids - the ability to shout up to them from the foyer was appreciated, as was the large basement, and sizeable sheltered private backyard. We have loved the quality of the schools, the proximity to highway 401, and also the ease of getting to the airport. The bus regularly comes up from the York Mills subway in about 5 minutes, making the city easily accessible. A Metro grocery store is nearby, which is incredibly convenient for picking up groceries, as is Shoppers Drug Mart, at Bayview and York Mills.

We have hosted many parties and events at the house, but the biggest celebration was our son’s wedding in 2018, where the backyard easily accommodated 100 guests for the service, the meal as well as dancing. The· border perimeter of the backyard lends itself to bright flowers, and every summer we enjoy a large variety of plants. The backyard is perfect for any number of gamesbocce, croquet, throwing a football, all can easily be accommodated.

The neighbourhood is on the site of the old St. Andrews golf course, and is central but quiet, and highly walkable in many directions. The Owen School and St. Andrews School playgrounds offer abundant opportunities for games and sports. There is an active tennis club just up the street at The Links, which also houses a pharmacy and variety store. And York Mills Arena is located nearby at Bayview and York Mills - it offers hockey as well as skating lessons and family skating time. And as a bonus, there are beautiful riverside walking paths behind the arena.

The house itself is well laid out for a family. There are lots of rooms, to assemble together, or to have more privacy. Each bedroom has an ensuite, so bathrooms don’t need to be shared. The upstairs laundry room is easily accessible from all the bedrooms. The basement workout room has been very well used, keeping us fit and healthy. It’s a bright and happy home that gets lots of light, with morning sun in the kitchen, and afternoon sun through the front windows.

We have been incredibly happy in this house, and are very sad to be moving. However, we are getting older and a condo on one floor is now getting to be the best option for us. Our hope is that a family will move into this special home, and be as happy as we have been.
