When one of the group members shared that every Monday in the lane near her house there descended an entire market much like it was in the villages, she had the whole group intrigued. They slowly started visiting the Monday market and witnessing how the informal market space had created an economic system and a social need around it, with the Sanpada community waiting for its arrival every week.
Through their research titled “Sanpaada mein lagne wale Saaptahik Bazaar ka Abhyaas”, the group uncovered the various players in the system; from the small vendors to their ‘Seth’, from their dynamics with the shopkeepers to the representatives of the State (the police and NMMC).
