The Simplified KJV builds off the familiarity and trustworthiness of the King James Bible while removing the challenges of its antiquated language and punctuation. Keeping all the original translation work of the beloved 1611 Bible, the Simplified KJV brings many elements of its predecessor in line with modern style, improving both readability and understandability. There are no substantive changes to the original text. Major categories of stylistic changes, along with numerous representative examples, follow. Revise/update/add punctuation as appropriate. Break up long sentences by Add or remove commas to conform to modern style. changing colons and semicolons to periods. Capitalize first letter Change colons and semicolons following. to commas when appropriate. Add quotation marks to spoken words. Run verses together to create paragraphs. Capitalize divine pronouns (He, His, Him, Himself, You, Your, Yours, Me, My, Mine, Us, Our). Lowercase extraneous capitals in the middle of sentences. Fix archaic phrasing of numbers, for example, “thirty and six” to “thirty-six.” Change “an” to “a” before words beginning with h. Change “which” to “that” when appropriate.
