The word Bible comes from the older word biblia. It meant “books.” That’s because the Bible is more than one book. It is a library of 66 books. In all, it took hundreds of years to write. The Bible tells stories about people long ago. There are poems, rules, letters, and songs. Some books tell what will happen in the future. The Bible is one big, true story about God’s love.

From its first to its very last page, we learn about God’s Son, Jesus. He is sometimes called our good shepherd. Jesus is the King of all kings. He came to earth to save us from sin. The Bible tells what matters most. It teaches what is right, what is true, and what lasts forever. The Bible is like a map. It guides you. It was made by God, who created you! The Bible answers big questions like Why am I here? What is God like? What should I do when life is hard?

The Bible shows us how to love others. It teaches us to make wise choices. It helps us walk with God each day. Most important of all, the Bible shows us Jesus. From beginning to end, the Bible points to Him. Jesus is God’s best gift to the whole world.

Is the Bible boring?

No! The Bible is not boring! Inside you will find stories of brave heroes. There are sneaky villains. It tells about soldiers and battles. There are miracles. Surprises too, like a talking donkey! In the Bible, a queen saves her people. A boy fights a giant. Men walk through fire, but they don’t get burned. Does that sound boring?

The Bible is exciting! It is full of good, and true , stories. These stories show us who God is. They teach us how to please Him.

Some parts of the Bible might be hard to understand. That’s okay. God will give you a helper. The Holy Spirit will help you to understand the Bible. He explains what God wants you to know.

Some people say the Bible is boring. They must not be reading it right! The Bible is the most exciting, most important book in the world.

Is the Bible confusing?

Sometimes the Bible is hard to understand.

There are big words and strange names. Parts of the Bible make you stop and say, “Wait, what?” The Bible was written long ago and far away. It was written in different languages. That’s why some parts take a little extra help to understand. But you don’t have to figure things out by yourself. God gave us grown-ups to help. Teachers. Parents. Church friends. All of them can help you if you ask. Just say, “What does this mean?” “Can you help me with this part?”

Questions are a great way to learn. Asking one good question can help you to understand a lot. Even grown-ups ask questions to learn new things from the Bible. So don’t give up. When you don’t understand, keep reading. Ask questions of people. And ask God to help you understand. He wants you to know and love the Bible. So He will help you every step of the way.

Is the Bible God?

The Bible is not God. It is a very special book about God. The Bible is filled with His words. His promises are inside. It is His story, the true story of God. We call the Bible “God’s Word” because it tells us what God thinks. It tell us what He wants. And it tells what He promises.

When you read the Bible, you can imagine that God is talking to you. Why? Because He is!

If someone says, “God’s Word,” you will know that that means the Bible. It holds the most important words ever written, straight from God’s heart to yours.

10 Are all the stories in the Bible true?

Yes. Every story in the Bible is true! There are no made-up stories. No fairy tales. No pretend adventures. Every story is true because it comes from God. Do you know that God never lies? That means the story of Noah’s big boat is true. So is the one about Daniel and the lions.

Some stories might be hard to believe. (Remember that talking donkey?) But every story is true. They show that God can do anything. He can rescue people in trouble. He can even send a fish to swallow a man—and teach him a lesson!

Some stories are called parables . These are stories Jesus told. All of His stories teach a true and important lesson.

Yes, all the stories in the Bible are true. Each one helps us understand who God is. They show us that He loves us. They teach us to trust Him every single day.

God’s people—the Israelites—pick up manna, a miracle bread that God rained down from heaven (Exodus 16).

Who wrote the Bible?

God picked all kinds of people to help write the Bible. Some were men who watched sheep. Some were kings. Some were fishermen who smelled like fish! One was a doctor. Another was a tax collector. A few were even prisoners. They live at different times in different places. But God gave each one a special job. God told them to write down what He wanted the world to know. The Bible took many years to write. God used about 40 people to write His words. Still, every single idea came from Him. So many people wrote the Bible. But God is the one true author.

Think of a choir. All the voices fit together in a perfect way. The Bible was written by many people. But its parts fit together perfectly too. The Bible tells God’s perfect truth. And it still is telling us the truth today!
