With more than 2,000 participants and over 7,200 donors, year seven of Bounce Back from Cancer was the most successful to date. You helped raise a record-breaking $7.2 million this year and over $23.4 million since 2018 to fund advanced research at Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute. Your support fuels innovation, advances treatment and brings hope to patients and families in our community and around the world.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

On behalf of the Bounce Back from Cancer community, we are so grateful to everyone who helped make Bounce Back from Cancer 2026 an extraordinary success. As you will see from our accomplishments report, your generosity and commitment continue to drive real advancements in the fight against cancer.

This year, we raised over $7.2 million to support lifesaving cancer research and clinical trials at Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute. This achievement reflects the collective strength of our donors, corporate sponsors, teams, participants and volunteers — and the endless possibilities when our community unites around a shared mission.

Our work carried even deeper meaning this year, as we remembered and honored our founding CEO and Executive Medical Director Michael J. Zinner, M.D., who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2025. Dr. Zinner reimagined what cancer care could be in South Florida, and his legacy lives on in every patient that walks through our doors.

Dr. Zinner believed, as we do, that a world without cancer is attainable. Every accomplishment highlighted in this report is a direct result of our coming together as a community to bring the hope and possibility of a cure to so many patients in need.

As Chair, I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to help lead this effort forward. With the continued dedication of supporters like you, we look ahead with momentum, determination and an unwavering commitment to saving lives.

According to US News & World Report, for 2025-2026, Baptist Health was the most awarded healthcare system in South Florida, earning a total of 63 High-Performing honors in 31 different types of care, including for excellence in Cancer Care.

Wertheim Cancer Institute — ranked top 10% in the nation — earned additional High Performing ratings in complex cancer care, colon cancer surgery, prostate cancer surgery, lung cancer surgery and treating patients with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma cancers.

Meet the GOAT

Sherrill Hudson

The title of “Greatest of All Time” (the GOAT) isn’t given lightly. Our top fundraiser for Bounce Back from Cancer 2026 undoubtedly earned it.

Sherrill Hudson brought in over $1.1 million this year alone, inspiring nearly 100 individual donors!

Since 2023, he has raised over $1,526,760 to fund lifesaving research and clinical trials at Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute.

Sherrill serves as Chair of the Wertheim Cancer Institute Board of Directors and sits on the Bounce Back from Cancer Leadership Council. His record of civic leadership in South Florida is long and distinguished, including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the FIU Foundation, the Orange Bowl Committee, among many others. A retired partner of Deloitte & Touche and former Chairman and CEO of TECO Energy, he brings the same discipline and vision to philanthropy that defined his career.

We are deeply grateful for Sherrill’s generosity, commitment and the standard he sets for all of us — and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate him as the GOAT behind our biggest year yet.

One Unbeatable Partnership.

For seven years running, the Miami HEAT has partnered with Baptist Health Foundation to bring their unique South Florida sports energy to Bounce Back from Cancer.

In 2026, Miami native and HEAT legend Udonis Haslem returned for his fifth year as Bounce Back from Cancer ambassador, leading participants to the Kaseya Center finish line with the same enthusiasm he brought to every game there.

For Udonis, this cause is deeply personal. Having lost his parents to cancer, he connects with survivors and families not just as a celebrity spokesperson, but as someone who truly understands the weight of this disease and the promise of investing in clinical trials.

He says, “There will be a cure someday. I believe that truly in my heart and in my soul. All you need is a little bit of hope, and a lot of research.”

Alongside Udonis this year, NBA Hall of Famer and fellow HEAT legend Alonzo Mourning brought his own powerful story. After overcoming kidney disease, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. With successful treatment, Alonzo is now cancer-free and has made it his mission to encourage men, especially those in underserved communities, to get screened and take charge of their health.

Together, the Miami HEAT, Udonis and Alonzo brought their leadership and genuine passion to rally and motivate our community all year long.

We thank them for helping us to realize the dream of a world without cancer.

POWERFUL PATIENT STORIES

I’m a ‘yes’ girl. If you give me a chance, I’m going to take it.

At 30, Courtney was traveling, hanging out with friends and loving it. Then she was diagnosed with vaginal adenocarcinoma, an extremely rare cancer that usually affects older women. She was in total shock.

From day one, Dr. John Diaz at Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute was on the phone, texting colleagues around the world to find a way to not just to eliminate the cancer, but to preserve her fertility. “Dr. Diaz had my back,” she said. He knew being able to have children in the future was important to Courtney, so he proposed a uterine transposition: temporarily moving her uterus and ovaries into her abdomen so she could have pelvic radiation without harming her reproductive system. She trusted him completely, and said yes.

The procedure worked exactly as hoped. After cancer treatment, Courtney had another surgery to move everything back into place. Today, she has no evidence of cancer and her regular cycle has returned. She is back to work, back to exercising and feeling great.

When she heard about Bounce Back from Cancer, Courtney gathered a huge group of friends to walk the full 14.2 miles alongside her and Dr. Diaz. Without research, she would never have had that opportunity. She was the first patient at the Institute to receive this groundbreaking treatment, but with continued funding, she won’t be the last.

“Six months earlier, I could barely get out of bed, so to be able to walk 14 miles alongside my oncologist was the best feeling in the world. That’s why I show up for Bounce Back from Cancer. And why I’m so grateful to everyone who makes these options possible.” “ ”

Eddie is a family man and a military veteran whose nature is to protect and look after others. “That’s why I find it so rewarding to work in facilities at Baptist Health,” he says, “I take pride in taking care of the hospital 365 days a year.”

Last year, he was feeling tired and gaining weight. Since he was getting older, he wondered whether his testosterone levels were low and went in for a checkup. Unfortunately, his PSA was elevated, and after an MRI and a biopsy, Eddie was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His doctor at Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute sat down with him, explained everything and let him know what we needed to do. After that appointment, he says, “I knew I was in the right hands. I knew I was going to overcome it.”

And the end of cancer treatment, patients get the opportunity to ring a bell. It stands for a new beginning, for hope and for more years added to your life. For these reasons, maintaining the bells was always one of Eddie’s favorite parts of the job. Now that Eddie has rung the bell himself, he feels an even deeper connection to it all. That bell connection is a big reason he participates in Bounce Back from Cancer.

From hospitals, institutes and departments across South Florida, 131 physicians came together to fundraise, advocate and lead by example. This year, they doubled down on their commitment and surpassed their participation and fundraising figures from 2025, helping make Bounce Back from Cancer 2026 a record-breaking success.

• 131 Physicians Registered — a 28% increase from 2025

• $990,000 Total Raised — a 12.5% growth from last year

• Physicians represented 7% of all participants and accounted for nearly 14% of total fundraising
