COACH HARBAUGH SAYS ON IMPROVEMENT FROM THREE STRAIGHT WINS AFTER AN 0-2 START:
“I like where we’re at. It kind of goes together. We were in a good place, and we’re in a better place now, because we’re continuing to improve. But we have a lot of improvement to do and a lot of opportunity to get better. So, I’m excited about that opportunity. ... We’ll get to the work on that this week and get ready for a very, very good Washington Commanders team that is playing at a very high level, maybe the highest level in the league right now.”
(3-2)
QUICK HITS ✗ The "Battle of the Beltway" renews when the Baltimore Ravens
(3-2) host the Washington Commanders (4-1) – with each team leading their respective division – in a 1 p.m. showdown from M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens are riding a three-game winning streak, while Washington has secured four straight victories entering this contest. ✗ In his 17th season with the Ravens, John Harbaugh stands as the NFL’s second-longest-tenured coach (Mike Tomlin – 18). Harbaugh has led Baltimore to 11 playoff berths, winning Super Bowl XLVII in 2012 and producing a 175-111 overall record (including playoffs). Coach Harbaugh is 2-2 vs. Washington, while the Ravens are 4-3 all time against their neighbors to the south. ✗ Entering Week 6, Washington (31.0) and Baltimore (29.4) rank No. 1-2 in the NFL, respectively, in points per game. The Ravens are led by two-time MVP QB Lamar Jackson, who's been superb both passing (1,206 yards, 9 TDs, 1 INT, 107.3 rating) and rushing (363 yards & 2 TDs). Baltimore is also bolstered by RB Derrick Henry, who leads the league in rushing yards (572) and total TDs (7, tied). Washington is guided by standout rookie QB Jayden Daniels – the first player in league history with 1,000+ passing yards and 250+ rushing yards through his first five NFL games. ✗ In a thrilling 41-38 OT win last Sunday in Cincinnati, Baltimore overcame three 10-point second-half deficits, with K Justin Tucker hitting a game-tying 56-yard FG to force OT and then a 24-yarder to seal the victory. Tucker's final FG was set up by a 51-yard Henry rumble on Baltimore's second OT possession, as "The King" finished with 92 ground yards and 1 TD on 15 carries. Jackson completed 26-of-42 passes for 348 yards, 4 TDs (including 2 to TE Isaiah Likely) and 0 INTs (119.9 rating).
INJURY UPDATE RB Rasheen Ali (neck) and CB Arthur Maulet (knee) are on IR/DFR and returned to practice in Week 5, while standout second-year RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) began the season on Reserve/PUP, as he continues to rehab a 2023 Week 15 injury. RS/WR Deonte Harty (knee) didn't play in last week's win at Cincinnati, while CB Jalyn ArmourDavis (hamstring) was placed on IR on Sept. 28.
NOTE THE QUOTE BUFFALO QB JOSH ALLEN ON QB LAMAR JACKSON:
"He’s really changed the way that guys play the game. But make no mistake about it, he can throw the snot out of the football. I've got a lot of respect for him, a lot of love for him. I love watching him play, because every play is never dead with him; he’s got a crazy ability to keep plays alive and make guys miss and then get the ball downfield. He’s a special player.”
