BALTIMORE RAVENS AT WASHINGTON COMMANDERS (8-8-1)

PRESEASON GAME 2 – AUG. 21, 2023 8 P.M. ET – FEDEXFIELD (62,000)

C OAC H H A R B S S AY S ON IF TODD MONKEN'S SYSTEM IS DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT THAN PREVIOUS RAVENS' OFFENSES OR AN EVOLUTION OF PAST ATTACKS:

(10-7)

“I'd have to say it’s both. I do think it’s evolution, because so many of the schemes are similar, and a lot of the words and terms are the same. We kept a lot of it. Todd has done a really great job of trying to blend it all together to create what we’re going to be going forward. That’s what you try to do. Does it become something different or something new? How new and how different it will be, we’ll find out. But, it will be what we feel we need to do to be most successful."

QUICK HITS ✗ The Baltimore Ravens travel to face the Washington Commanders in a "Battle of the Beltway" from FedExField on Aug. 21. Kickoff for this nationally-televised Monday Night Football game is at 8 p.m.

✗ The Ravens haven't lost a preseason game since 2015, posting a

24-0 record dating back to the start of 2016. The 24 straight wins mark the longest streak in NFL preseason history, surpassing Green Bay’s 19 from 1959-62. (In last Saturday's 2023 preseason opener, Baltimore prevailed, 20-19, over the visiting Eagles.)

WR Rashod Bateman (8/9) and RB J.K. Dobbins (8/14) recently came off the Active/PUP list. OLB Tyus Bowser, LS Nick Moore and rookie G Andrew Vorhees are on the Active/NFI (Non-Football Injury) list, while CB Trayvon Mullen is on Reserve/NFI.

✗ With a 10-7 regular season record in 2022, the Ravens clinched a playoff berth for the fourth time (2018-20, 2022) in the past five seasons and for the 10th time during John Harbaugh's 15 years as head coach.

NOTE THE QUOTE ESPN'S DAN GRAZIANO ON THE RAVENS ORGANIZATION: ”Stability and a long track record of competence, both in the front office and on the coaching staff, are the main reasons there's always optimism in Baltimore. General manager Eric DeCosta and coach John Harbaugh have kept the franchise competitive year-in and year-out. Plus, quarterback Lamar Jackson is still only 26 and one of the most thrilling players in the league. If he can stay healthy and take to the new offense, the Ravens could be really good for a really long time."

✗ In 2023, Harbaugh enters his 16th season at the helm in Baltimore, positioning him as the NFL's third-longest-tenured head coach (Bill Belichick – 24 seasons & Mike Tomlin – 17).

✗ In 2022, Baltimore finished second in the AFC North behind a 12-4 Cincinnati team that played one fewer game overall. The Ravens split the regular season series with the Bengals, but then fell at Cincinnati, 24-17, in a Wild Card playoff.

✗ Despite QB Lamar Jackson (knee) missing the 2022 season's final six games and Baltimore losing both starting wideouts – WR Rashod Bateman (foot, Oct. 27) and WR/RS Devin Duvernay (foot, Dec. 20) – to season-ending injuries, the Ravens produced at least 10 wins for the ninth time during Harbaugh's tenure (since 2008).
