WORLD CHAMPIONS: SUPER BOWL XXXV (2000) & SUPER BOWL XLVII (2012)
CAROLINA PANTHERS VS. BALTIMORE RAVENS (3-7)
WEEK 11 – SUNDAY, NOV. 20, 2022 1 P.M. ET – M&T BANK STADIUM (70,745)
C OAC H H A R B S S AY S COACH HARBAUGH ON THE RAVENS' DEFENSIVE PROGRESSION: “We have a plan, in terms of how we envision our defense and how we have to play in our conference and division. That’s been in place. In the offseason you build that, and you try to build your defense in that way towards scheme and then personnel. We didn’t have all of our guys early, but we were still building into our vision. I like to think that will start coming into clear view in this next part of the season, [with] how we want to play with the guys we have and the guys coming back and as we get better at what we do."
(6-3)
QUICK HITS
✗ Riding a three-game winning streak, the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) host the Carolina Panthers (3-7) for an interconference battle at M&T Bank Stadium (1 p.m. kickoff). Coming off a Week 10 bye, the Ravens have won four of their past five games and will play their fifth home game of the season (2-2 record thus far).
I N J U RY U P DAT E TE Mark Andrews (knee/shoulder) and RB Gus Edwards (hamstring) did not play in Baltimore's Week 9 win at NO. S Marcus Williams (wrist) has missed the last four games after being placed on Injured Reserve, but will return this season, as should RB J.K. Dobbins (knee), who was placed on IR on Oct. 21. Starters WR Rashod Bateman (foot) and NT Michael Pierce (biceps) are on season-ending IR.
✗ Baltimore sits atop the AFC North standings, while the 5-4 Bengals are one game behind in second. Carolina, which is coming off a 25-15 Week 10 win vs. Atlanta, is tied with the Saints for third in the AFC South but does hold a head-to-head tiebreaker at this point.
✗ The Ravens are 2-4 vs. Carolina in the all-time series, including a 1-1 mark in Baltimore. Under head coach John Harbaugh, Baltimore is 2-1 against the Panthers, last winning a 38-10 contest at M&T Bank Stadium in 2014 (the last time the two teams played in Charm City).
NOTE THE QUOTE ESPN'S TROY AIKMAN ON THE BALTIMORE RAVENS: "They’re really a model franchise, Baltimore is, with the way that they’re run and the stability they have. It really starts at the top with the owner, [Steve Bisciotti]. … They make a lot of good decisions. All these guys have been there together for a really long time. Everybody knows each other, and that has paid huge dividends.”
✗ Baltimore is 14-1 vs. the NFC in games started by QB Lamar Jackson, who played (but did not start) at Carolina during his 2018 rookie season (the Ravens fell, 36-21). With Coach Harbaugh at the helm (since 2008), the Ravens are 22-7 at home vs. the NFC.
✗ Behind a suffocating defense that allowed just 243 yards (including 48 rushing), the Ravens upended the host Saints, 27-13, in a Week 9 Monday Night Football performance. Baltimore racked up 188 rushing yards of its own, surpassing the 150 mark for the eighth-consecutive game. RB Kenyan Drake led the charge with 93 rushing yards and 2 TDs, while Jackson added 82 on 11 attempts (7.5 avg.), also completing 12-of-22 passes for 133 yards and 1 TD (24 yards to TE Isaiah Likely). OLB Justin Houston tallied 2.5 sacks and 1 INT, earning AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, while CB Marlon Humphrey registered a team-high 7 tackles, 1 PD and 1 sack. Baltimore limited the Saints to 3-of-11 on third down and 0-for-2 in the red zone.
