NHP Physical Rodeo April 27 ... Naval Hospital Pensacola’s annual School/Sports/Camp Physical Rodeo will kick off

tomorrow, April 27 from 8 a.m. to noon. The rodeo allows parents enrolled to the Family Medicine Clinic to bring their children to the hospital on specific Saturdays throughout the summer to complete a physical. The physical exams are for children 4 and older, including children new to the area. Appointments are encouraged; however walk-ins will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Remember to bring any required paperwork to the rodeo. Only school/sports physicals will be addressed at the rodeo. The additional dates for the rodeo will be May 18, June 15, July 13, July 20 and Aug. 3. Central Security Service, CIWT leaders ensure IW readiness

Rear Adm. Daniel MacDonnell, the 11th deputy chief of the Central Security Service (CSS) at the National Security Agency (NSA), visited the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) and Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Corry Station April 16 to review information warfare (IW) training initiatives and discuss current and future training for the military services’ rapidly changing IW missions, capabilities and roles. This was MacDonnell’s first visit to CIWT since taking the helm of CSS in September 2018. In his role at CSS, MacDonnell oversees the function of the military cryptology system; coordinates and develops policy and guidance on the signals

intelligence and cybersecurity missions of NSA/CSS to ensure military integration; manages and cultivates the partnerships between NSA/CSS and the service cryptologic elements; provides timely and accurate cryptologic support, knowledge, and assistance to the military cryptologic community and ensures military capabilities to fulfill the national cryptologic strategy. MacDonnell began the visit with CIWT Commanding Officer Capt. Nick Andrews, where they discussed various topics to include current and planned developments of training CIWT offers from rating-specific enlisted apprentice to cyber warfare to officer courses. “Rear Adm. NAS Pensacola NEX, MWR and DeCA hosting ‘Welcome Aboard Weekend’ today, tomorrow From Naval Air Station Pensacola Public Affairs

The Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola Navy Exchange (NEX), Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) department and the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) are scheduled to host a “Welcome Aboard Weekend” celebration today, April 26 and tomorrow, April 27 onboard NAS Pensacola. The “Welcome Aboard Weekend,” designed to provide an opportunity for newly-reported service members and family members an entertaining arrival to the

“Cradle of Naval Aviation,” is hosted by NEX Pensacola, MWR and DeCA, and is scheduled to include a variety of activities and events including a 5K run, a series of musical performances, stuntman demonstrations, gaming contests and a magician. Additionally, throughout the weekend, service members and their families will have the opportunity to sign-up for NEX mobile contests and coupons. “Taking care of our military families is what the NEX is all about,” Steve Foster, general manager, NEX Pensacola said. “We’re the first installation to host a ‘Welcome Aboard’ event so our NEX team is

NASP Security, Safety Office stress speed limits on base From Naval Air Station Pensacola Public Affairs

The Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola Security Department and Safety Office stressed the importance of observing posted speed limits during an NAS Pensacola Safety committee meeting April 17. NAS Pensacola Safety and Occupational Health Specialist Jane Bush said one of the chief safety issues onboard the largest facility in Commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE) are drivers failing to adhere to the posted speed limits on the facility. “We are currently looking at different methods to control base speeding,” she said. “One method we currently use is speed display signs placed on base, which can

serve as visual reminders to drivers to slow down and follow speed laws.” The speed display signs are posted at areas on base which have a high volume of through traffic. These signs, operated through a radar speed sensing device, begin flashing the vehicle’s rate of speed when the posted speed limit is exceeded. Bush also said that violations of the air station’s speed limit policy can have severe repercussions, including a potential ban from operating a privately owned vehicle on the facility’s grounds. NASP Notes ... GCVAC Memorial Day event ... Chairman Joseph L. Herring of the Gulf Coat Veterans Advocacy Council (GCVAC) wishes to share its annual event on Memorial Day, May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Barrancas National Cemetery located onboard NAS Pensacola. The public is invited to join veterans and community leaders during this event honoring America’s fallen heroes.
