Baliwe Sibisi is a South African Architect and ceramicist whose work is rooted in place, heritage, and intentional living. Shaped by life in South Africa, she grew up with a deep appreciation for objects made with care and meaning.
In a world where every piece of art has its story, my journey as a creator is deeply intertwined with the meaning of my name, Baliwe, which directly translates to “to be counted.” My name resonates profoundly with me, reflecting my belief that to be counted is to be seen, acknowledged, considered and ultimately loved. Each piece I create carries this essence, embodying the desire for connection and the warmth of shared experiences.
At UBaliwe, I strive to craft more than just functional art; I aim to create vessels of love and memory. Each creation is a canvas where my soul and heart are poured into the piece, allowing me to leave a part of myself in every creation.
