Four night itinerary

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is set at the heart of Vancouver Island’s natural wild-west playground. Get ready for a choose-your-own-adventure style escape where the landscape and wildlife combine in a backdrop to exhilarating, unforgettable experiences. Guests are presented with a personalised itinerary upon arrival, with guided signature, special interest and wellness experiences included in the tariff and shared with fellow guests at scheduled times. Private experiences can be arranged at additional cost subject to availability.
Four Night West Coast Escape
The following represents an indicative experience over four nights. Many factors influence the delivered itinerary including pre-booked activities and weather conditions. Any special arrangements made in advance or once at the lodge will be choreographed by our team and your itinerary customised to ensure the very best experience of both lodge and island.


Day 1 Welcome
From seaplane to horse-drawn wagon, the journey to Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is spectacular. At The Outpost, check-in with a glass of Canadian sparkling wine and with your personalised itinerary in-hand, get set for an epic adventure.
Day 1 Night
As night falls, enjoy dinner in The Cookhouse, the warm convivial heart of the lodge, surrounded by the theatre-like ambience of the open kitchen as our team of chefs dish up contemporary coastal cuisine.

Included in every stay
A stay at the lodge features a host of generous inclusions such as guided signature, special interest and wellness experiences, all gourmet dining, a selection of premium beverages and use of e-bikes, mountain bikes and watercraft.
Check in Check-in days are on Sundays and Thursdays only. Check-in time is 3.30pm. Guests arriving outside the standard check-in time are welcome to enjoy the lodge facilities.

Day 2 Morning
Eat up at breakfast! The Ursus Valley Hike covers challenging terrain passing through 400-year-old old-growth forests, deep valleys and enticing mountain streams with the chance to spot wildlife (hint: bears!) in Ursus Valley.
Day 2 Afternoon
Swap your boots for wings and find yourself at 4000 ft above sea level in moments. The exhilarating Sip to Sky heli experience takes you to the top of Ursus Peak where a luxury picnic with all the trimmings awaits (additional charge applies).
Day 2 Night
A celebration every evening, the dinner menu features the very best of the region’s produce. Later, gather round for s’mores and stories by the fire, reflecting on the milestones of the day under a glittering canopy of stars.
Day 3 Early Morning
Early risers can opt for a gentle sunrise stretch while those seeking an adrenalin-fix can head into the forest on a trail run or take a mountain bike for a morning cycle.
Day 3 Morning
The high-intensity canyoning expedition begins with an e-bike followed by a paddle upstream as the glacial-fed Bedwell River courses through the valley. With your adrenalin pumping, rockhop over boulders to leap into the whitewater. Epic!

Day 3 Afternoon
Channel your inner cowboy or cowgirl and learn the basics of 'western riding' guided by Clayoquot’s equine team. Saddle up with provided helmets and boots and set off for an unforgettable Horseback Ride through the valley.
Day 3 Night
This evening enjoy twilight on the water from the comfort of The Ivanhoe lounge and let our bartenders shake or stir up a tipple as you reminisce on the day’s adventures. Dinner in The Cookhouse is a celebration of local flavours.

Day 4 Morning
Rise and shine thanks to a steaming hot coffee delivered to your tent ‘door’. Fuel up with breakfast before a morning of guided watersports, picking your craft from the fleet of canoes, double kayaks and SUPs.
Day 4 Late Afternoon
It’s all about you: visit Healing Grounds Spa for an afternoon of health and wellness choosing between a variety of treatments or sink into a hot tub for a soak, complete with a glorious view. If you’re itching to move, grab a bike and ride to The Oasis.
Day 4 Night
Lounge sound-side in The Ivanhoe and toast the panoramic views with a classic cocktail. Enjoy dinner in The Cookhouse with all the theatre of an open kitchen as our chefs prepare the evening’s menu.

Day 5 Morning
Warm up in the sun with breakfast outdoors overlooking the Bedwell River. Clayoquot Sound is a wonderful playground for watersports, try your hand at a raft of guided paddling adventures, from canoes and kayaks to SUPs.
Day 5 Farewell
Savour a farewell alfresco lunch on the deck of The Cookhouse. The horse-drawn carriage awaits for your transfer to the dock and your onward journey. We bid you a warm farewell, until next time.

Broaden your horizons
Island Picnic
Take off on a heli adventure to enjoy some remote ‘island time.’ Land on the coast, get your toes into the sand and explore the small, wild islands dotted around the ocean. Touch down to explore your ‘private’ isle, play some ball sports and take a swim before kicking back with a gourmet picnic.
Sea Caves
Explore the sea caves on the remote western coastline of Vancouver Island, formed over centuries by the wind and ocean. Wearing a headtorch, explore inside the caves, finding sheer rockfaces, tidal pools and cool pebbled beaches.
In addition to the included guided signature, special interest and wellness experiences, the lodge offers a menu of aerial adventures exploring the vast, remote wilderness by helicopter with options designed to suit every interest and occasion from heli hiking to sky-high sunset drinks.
