Over the next couple of months, I’ll be experiencing many “finals.” We have all experienced life’s bittersweet moments. The closer I get to Dec. 31, 2022, the more often these moments seem to pop up out of nowhere!

After 15 years as president of BAHEP, this is my final BUSINESS BRIEFS letter before my retirement, since the Winter 2022 newsletter won’t publish until the beginning of 2023. In the early months of my tenure, I realized that BAHEP needed an effective way to communicate its numerous, varied activities to its membership. Members of any organization ought to have a clear understanding of that group’s actions. I felt that our members would appreciate learning about BAHEP’s programs, partnerships, and committee initiatives. BUSINESS BRIEFS first published in Spring 2008, and it has proven to be every bit as effective as I hoped that it would be.
NASA Honors BAHEP President Bob Mitchell NASA honored BAHEP President Bob Mitchell with the Space Flight Awareness Award during a ceremony at the Gilruth Center on Aug. 10, 2022. Mitchell was recognized for leading numerous Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) regional aerospace initiatives
Bob Mitchell of the best. Faced with some difficult challenges, I have been fortunate to have a truly great team at BAHEP, incredibly active members, and unwavering support from local, state, and federal officials who have been the champions behind many of our initiatives. I appreciate every one of them, and I sincerely hope that they all know how much they have meant to me. In this issue of the newsletter, you will learn about the Transportation Summit on Oct. 25th as well as the Human Trafficking Prevention and Awareness event to be held on Nov. 4th. I encourage you to attend both, since successful management of these issues is critical to the well-being of the region and the nation.
