Beyond the Eco-trails
Ba(Hons) Year 3
My most recent project, ‘Beyond the Eco-trails’, based in Florence Mine in Egremont, explore the role of transport hub within the context of West Cumbria, promoting low carbon transport and inclusivity. Unlike the Lake District, West Cumbria receives a low number of visitors and transport links, resulting in economic deprivation. This project aims to identify these gaps through data mapping, to explore how the forgotten industrial town of Egremont can be reconnected through a new transport system and its local biodiversity. My design will function as a cycle hub to better connect the site to tourist areas, by extending the National Cycle Network. It also functions as a growing space for the local community, and a space for new wildlife corridors that also respond to the native endangered bird species. The project will combine these functions on the site through a cycle path interconnected through the old mine buildings, a main building for the bike facilities, a classroom, a greenhouse and polytunnels, a landscaping strategy across the site, that will also repurpose some of the warehouses.
Digital Renders
For my final design renders, I wanted to visualise the cycling path from different view points. For instance, on the right presents the path across the cycling centre’s cafe terrace.

Final Plan
The 1st Floor shows the seperated changing rooms and toilets, and utilities room centrally placed. I carefully considered the plan arrangements, iterated many times to enhances user circulation, accessibility (to comply with Part M of the building regulations), and to ensure compliance with the fire safety regulations (Part B)
Section
The cycling path circulates the existing warehouses and reaches the cycling centre’s cafe terrace. The polytunnels for community growing are also visible.

Massing Development
Iterative massing on Rhino of cycling centre and path, within the context of site, scale, sun path, circulation, and ramp safety (based on the UK’s Cycle Infrastructure Design document.
Masterplanning and Landscape Development
Iterative masterplanning to conceptualise site programme to improve safety, habitat restoration, and circulation.

Technologies Case Study
Sainsbury Centre, Norwich Ba(Hons) Year 3
This assignment focused on evaluating a Norman Foster’s Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in relation to environment, construction, and sustainability by assuming the material build-up and functionality through an observation of the architect’s drawings online. The High Tech museum embodies the principles of adaptability, environmental comfort and technological innovation. I used Autocad to understand the design strategies. The building consists of a single span structure to allows servicing and secondary elements within the internal walls.

Guardians of the Goyt
Ba(Hons) Year 2
Guardians of the Goyt is a project based in Stockport, Manchester, which explores the landscape of the polluted River Goyt. Guardians of the Goyt provides an environmental solution, minimising changes to the surroundings, whilst allowing scientists to study ecology and providing a public access. The building incorporates an ecological research space, an exhibition room for environmental awareness, and an outdoor promenade. The design strategy aims to create fluidity of circulation throughout the building, a way to blend nature through the curved structure of the building, and various level changes.
Digital Renders
A render capturing the perspective and experience of a visitor within the exhibition space, open at the roof to allow adequate space for the growing trees.
Model-making
Model-making to help me see the scale of my designs when struggling to envision a concept and a chosen iteration.
Hand Sketches
A visual depiction of my exhibiton space from various angles, using my SketchUp digital model.

Landscape Strategy
I incorporated different environmental solution, to tackle the problems at the River Goyt: to restore the fish population I wanted to vaquatic plants to absorb river pollution, I designed a rain garden with a promenade, and added trees like River Birch to provide a habitat for native birds.

Yukka Design freelancing Work Experience
To gain experience, I have provided examples of studio work, where I assisted with preparing the planning application for a new house extension through presentation of CAD proposed plans and renders for the local council. Working as an assistant provided me with confidence and knowledge at the studio, and improve my understanding of RIBA Stages of Work (mostly supporting stages 1 and 2).
Proposed Extension Plans
Using the Autocad drawings of my project leader, I created these plan drawings using Photoshop.
Interior space Visuals
Created using Photoshop, were I recognised how visuals can be used to illustrate the initial designs to clients, and understood the work quality required for presentation.
SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, and Autocad

Personal Work
Photography and Hand drawings
Film Photography
With a passion for photography, I have included my own film photography using my Olympus MJU camera. I enjoy exploring cities to photograph and draw, and experimenting with different compositions and camera settings.
Hand drawings
I have always love drawing in school and in my spare time. My pen drawings depict various locations. The largest drawing, depicting St Paul’s Cathedral in London, I submitted for the Manchester School of Architecture Sketch Competition in my first year, where I received Second Place for outstanding achievements in drawing.
POC Exhibition
Outside of my studies I had the opportunity to present and speak about my Year 3 project to the POC mentees at the 2025 Exhibition
