MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
Dear Alumni and Friends,
I am pleased to share a summary of the Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments and Finance’s impact for the 2025–2026 academic year. This year marks continued progress toward our mission: advancing finance education and preparing Babson students to succeed in a dynamic and competitive global marketplace.
Experiential learning remains the cornerstone of our approach. Through programs such as the Babson College Fund, students actively manage an $8 million portfolio, gaining hands-on experience in investment research, decision-making, and portfolio construction. Beyond the classroom, our students distinguished themselves in national and international competitions, including a strong showing at the Rotman International Trading Competition and continued success in fintech innovation challenges. Complementary initiatives, such as our Financial Modeling Bootcamp and value-investing seminar, further strengthened students’ technical and analytical capabilities.
The Cutler Center Finance Lab remains a central hub for applied learning. With 42 workstations, including 25 Bloomberg terminals, the lab supports coursework, independent research, and student-led activities. This year, 372 students enrolled in courses held in the lab, gaining direct exposure to the tools and technologies used throughout the financial services industry.
Equally important is the strength of our community. Our alumni and industry partners remain deeply engaged in the student experience. This year, 21 Executives in Residence and more than 120 alumni volunteers contributed their time as mentors, guest speakers, and advisors. Through our mentorship program alone, 31 student–alumni connections were established, helping guide career development and expand professional networks. These relationships are invaluable for bridging academic learning and industry practice.
The Center’s commitment to academic excellence is also evident in our support for faculty research and thought leadership. Our Seminar Speaker Series welcomed leading scholars from top institutions, and Babson faculty continued to publish impactful research across key areas of finance. Together, these efforts ensure that our curriculum remains rigorous and relevant.
Our outcomes speak for themselves. Babson students continue to secure roles at leading financial institutions, including J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank, and Guggenheim Securities, while maintaining strong placement rates and competitive starting salaries. These results underscore the effectiveness of our integrated approach to education, which combines academic rigor with experiential depth.
This year also marked an important milestone: the Cutler Center’s 25th anniversary. This achievement reflects the vision of our founders and the extraordinary generosity of our alumni and donors. Your continued support has enabled us to expand our programs, invest in cutting-edge resources, and offer transformative opportunities for our students.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to building on this momentum—by expanding access to experiential learning, deepening industry partnerships, and continuing to prepare the next generation of finance leaders.
On behalf of the entire Cutler Center team, thank you for your continued engagement and support. Your partnership is essential to our success and our students’ success.
Sincerely,
Patrick Gregory, CFA Managing Director, Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments and Finance Faculty Director, Babson College Fund (BCF) Professor of Practice, Finance Division, Babson College

Seminars & Workshops Experiential Learning:
ESSENTIALS OF VALUE INVESTING SEMINAR
Select undergraduate and graduate students participated in a yearlong seminar series with Gary Mishuris, CFA, Managing Partner and CIO of Silver Ring Value Partners. Throughout the seminar, readings such as Benjamin Graham’s Security Analysis and Warren Buffett’s Partnership Letters are used to discuss the investing philosophies and processes of successful value investors. Students can use the insights from the readings to build an internally consistent value-investing framework that suits their strengths.
FINANCIAL MODELING BOOTCAMP
The Cutler Center partnered with Michael Silk of Training the Street to offer financial modeling experience. During this training session, students learned how to build a fully integrated three-statement model by forecasting the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement using various assumptions. The seminar required participants to build several models of different levels of difficulty, starting with an extremely simple model and ending with a robust circular model. This teaching method ensures that building blocks and links between the forecast financial statements are fully understood.
UWIN INFO SESSION
Hosted by UWIN Founder and Credit Research Co-Director at Loomis Sayles, Shannon O’Mara, students were offered an overview of the program that offers mentorship and internship opportunities, professional development, and technical skills to undergraduate students interested in business, finance, accounting, data science, mathematics, economics, or financial markets.
