Being able to manage and build relationships is something I learned at Babson.

Sydney Logan ’21, a former resident assistant and student photographer, is the founder of the Johnson House at Babson, special-interest housing for members of the Black Student Union (BSU). Now, after interning at Abbott and Staples alongside her leadership positions on campus, she works at American Express.

When I think about my career, I think about two courses: Foundations of Management & Entrepreneurship (FME) and Organizational Behavior. I’ve realized that while the work I do is important, so is how you work with people. That coursework helped me navigate my career and role at American Express. I must translate business needs across teams.

– SYDNEY LOGAN ’21 Manager, AI and Agentic Marketing, American Express

ABuiltCurriculum to Last

Beginning in your first semester, you will take classes and work on projects that set you up to make real impact for organizations, the environment, and your community. Your hands-on experiences in the field along with your foundations in business and the liberal arts and sciences provide a wellrounded portfolio when you graduate.

Hands-On Learning at Its Best: Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME)

Work with your peers to launch a real business. You will develop the business fundamentals and competencies employers are demanding, such as teamwork and problem solving. Plus, it’s an experience you build on and can draw from during interviews and internships. Students starting in January or through Babson Begin take two courses in their first semester on campus that offer the same academic content and skill development as FME: Foundations in Entrepreneurship: Hatch & Hustle and Foundations in Management: Organizational Behavior Lab

FME is all about teamwork.

Follow a student team, led by Zunairah Syeda ’28 (pictured sitting down) and Jacqueline Brown ’28 (not pictured), as they navigate an entrepreneurial journey launching Kwik E Sheets as part of FME. Join the team as they problem solve long shipping delays and product functionality issues, as well as for their triumphs, including showcasing at the FME Expo.

Watch a video following the group through the semester.
It’s about teaching the ways we can try to make changes and to foster more sustainable systems. These are tools that apply to whatever students want to do.

Rethink Your Thinking: Socio-Ecological Systems

We build tomorrow today. Socio-Ecological Systems is a course analyzing the sustainability challenges facing our future. Immerse yourself in the intersections among social, ecological, and economic systems while learning from two faculty members: one professor of natural sciences and one professor of the humanities or social sciences.

The Real World Before the Real World: Advanced Experiential

Engage in consulting projects with companies such as Puma or the Boston Red Sox and address real business challenges for them as part of Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE). Or apply your financial modeling skills by managing a portion of the Babson College endowment in the Babson College Fund class. Or learn and evaluate federal monetary policy, then present monetary policy recommendations to economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in the College Fed Challenge.

What you do is up to you. This requirement allows you to select a course in the discipline of your choice and collaborate with an external organization to identify, analyze, and develop real ideas for growth.

Babson shaped my professional interest in brand building. My education gave me a full understanding of how a business works.

Cole Spencer ’21 spent his childhood eavesdropping on his dad’s work calls. His dad worked for a shoe company, and ever since, Spencer has been fascinated with brand building. Fast forward to Babson, and Spencer used career center resources to snag an internship at New England institution L.L. Bean. Now, as an E-Commerce Content Planner at L.L. Bean, he’s helping this beloved brand tell its story (and sell some shoes of its own).

In my marketing and social media marketing classes, we did simulations. We actively tried to sell products and build a reputation. I can directly translate the work I’m doing in my classes to the work I’m doing now. This felt very unique to Babson.

Additionally, the First-Generation Student Success office provides mentorship, professional development, community building, and emotional support resources for the Babson community.

I found my original internship that turned into my full-time role on Handshake through CCD. I ended up working at the career center my senior year as a Peer Career Ambassador. I got to learn even more about the CCD tools, and it was great teaching other students how to use those resources, such as the Handshake job board and the resume tool VMock.

When I had the opportunity to play lacrosse and study entrepreneurship at Babson (as a first-generation student), the choice was a nobrainer. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The Negotiations class with Professor of Management (Amanda) Weirup provided the skills for leveraging value in complex situations. The class taught me how to be more confident in professional situations and the importance and impact of learning by doing.

The greatest class I took was Sports Application of Mathematics with Professor Richard Cleary. We spoke to so many people in the sports industry. Having coursework that was specific to my interest of business analytics was really helpful.

You’re

surrounded by people who are building things. I learned just as much from watching other students run their ventures as I did from the classes. Seeing what worked for them—and what didn’t—shaped how I approached my own business.

Rooted in a life that has stretched from Oakland to Nigeria to Atlanta, Adamma Jean-Pierre Eze ’25 arrived on campus with an entrepreneurial spirit and a curiosity for real estate and venture creation. After completing FME and other experiential courses, she decided to pursue an idea she had always imagined doing later in life: launching her own business.

Today, she is stepping forward with two parallel journeys: a fast-rising career in partnerships at a global brand, Hertz, and a wellness-driven beverage startup she continues to passionately build. Her Babson years, marked by resilience, experimentation, and community, laid the foundation for both.

So many classes require presentations or pitching, and even though that was new for me, it pushed me to grow. Now, whether I’m interviewing for jobs, talking to potential investors, or explaining my product, I feel confident in how I present myself. That growth happened because of Babson.

Our business case challenge (as an intern at Dunkin’ Brands) was essentially a high-level pitch to the company. … FME taught me how to effectively communicate ideas, structure a persuasive pitch, and work in a team. Those skills translated directly to my internship.”

Everything I learned in business intelligence and data analytics—and Associate Professor Davit Khachatryan’s involvement in my academic journey—allowed me to acclimate quickly to my role. Events such as the codeathon and class projects also set me up to recognize business deficiencies quickly and utilize tools that allow me to approach tasks from a more personable approach.

Babson’s undergraduate Class of 2025 reported strong employment and salary outcomes, while outpacing national projected averages for business students, demonstrating the strong value of a Babson education.
