Babson College Blank School Summer Program Handbook of Pre-Collegiate Policies and Participant Code of Conduct
Preamble The Babson College Handbook of Pre-Collegiate Policies, and all that it comprises, aims to promote a positive living and learning community for Pre-Collegiate participants at Babson. Integrity, civility, and respect for the community, in and out of the classroom, are recognized by Babson College as core values. The College expects that all Pre-Collegiate participants will do their utmost to embrace these core values and subsequent expectations. In doing so, participants will contribute to the development of Babson as a positive living and learning community. A. Code of Conduct To uphold the Principles of the College community, participants in The Arthur M. Blank School Summer Program (the “Program”) are required to abide by the Code of Conduct. The Code covers behaviors by all Program participants (“Participants”) no matter where the behavior occurs. This includes, but is not limited to, behaviors that occur off campus but cause potential or actual harm to individuals (whether or not those individuals are affiliated with the College), the College community, or to institutional reputation, or that suggest a Participant’s presence on campus may pose a safety risk. The determination of whether behavior is subject to this Code will be made by the Director of Pre-Collegiate Programs or their designee. Online behaviors during the Program are also subject to the jurisdiction of the Code. The Code applies beginning on the Participant’s Program start date or their arrival to campus, whichever comes sooner, through to the end of their Program enrollment, including between consecutive Programs and when participating in a Babsonsponsored excursion or at an affiliate site. Matters that present an immediate health or safety risk or that may be criminal in nature may be reported to Public Safety, who will follow all federal, state, local and internal investigative, notification and reporting requirements. As a condition of participation in the Program, Participants must abide by the following standards and expectations: A.1. Act as good citizens by showing respect and courtesy to all members of the College community, including fellow Participants, students, staff, instructors, campus neighbors and affiliates. A.2. Contribute to a healthy and safe community environment. Use methods of expression that are appropriate for a healthy living-learning environment. Obscene, derogatory, and/or abusive language are prohibited.
