City of Azle Newsletter February 2026 A Message from the Mayor As we begin 2026, I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and proud of the progress we’ve made together. Our city continues to grow and thrive, and while growth brings challenges, it also opens doors for innovation and improvement. Azle remains committed to preserving the small-town charm we all love while planning for a vibrant future. Looking back on 2025, I’m proud of what we accomplished together as a community. It was a year marked by significant improvements that reflect our dedication to quality services and community pride. We reclaimed/overlaid several streets, completed Phase 1 of the Central Park Trail Replacement Project, and finished major utility upgrades like the FM 730 Water Tower Rehab and Walnut Creek Forcemain Project. Our parks also saw enhancements, including new lighting and infield repairs at Shady Grove Park. Plus, the FeedLot pavilion and expanded parking area have made it a favorite spot for gatherings and entertainment. We also strengthened public safety and city services by adding ten new positions across Fire, Police, Dispatch, Finance, and the library, and invested in critical equipment like ambulances, turf machines, and IT upgrades. Our staff earned financial reporting awards for the 22nd consecutive year, and community events like National Night Out and Trunk or Treat continue to grow in popularity - bringing families together and reinforcing the sense of community that makes Azle so special. As we look ahead to 2026, we’re committed to delivering reliable, high-quality services you expect while planning for a bright and sustainable future. Key projects include Dunaway Lane Reconstruction Project, Charles Street Lift Station upgrade, and Phase 2 of the Central Park Trail Improvement. We’ll also add shade structures at Central Park splash pad and enhance the FM 730/SH 199 intersection to make this major crossroads more attractive and welcoming for everyone who passes through. Infrastructure planning is a major priority because it impacts all of us. This year, we’re launching a new Water and Sewer Master Plan and a city-wide sidewalk and trail study, supported by a TxDOT grant - steps that will make Azle safer and more connected. We’re also upgrading equipment to help staff work efficiently and adding new positions to better serve our growing community. City leaders and staff are committed to keeping our finances strong and planning responsibly. Our budget reflects cautious optimism - balancing rising costs with efforts to attract new businesses and expand our economic base, so we can continue providing the services you depend on. As Azle grows, our focus remains on what matters most - our community. Azle is more than a city - it’s our home, built on pride, resilience, and shared vision. We are dedicated to ensuring Azle remains a place you’re proud to call home; and working together, we can ensure the future of Azle shines bright - full of promise and possibility. Here’s to a successful and exciting 2026!
