Special Election - Street Maintenance Sales Tax
In 2003, Azle voters first approved a 1/4 of one percent sales tax for street maintenance as a new funding source for ongoing street improvements. Azle voters have since voted to reauthorize the sales tax every four (4) years since 2006. On Election Day, May 2, 2026, Azle voters will once again have the opportunity to vote for or against the reauthorization of the Street Maintenance Sales Tax. The sales tax may only be used to fund the maintenance and repair of existing streets. It may not be used to build new streets.
Since 2003, the street maintenance sales tax has generated over $11 million and reclaimed or overlaid approximately 45 miles of Azle streets.

Azle X-treme Green Clean-Up

The City of Azle, in partnership with Community Waste Disposal (CWD), will conduct a FREE clean-up event for its residents to provide a way to dispose of loose brush, furniture, bulky items, appliances, metal for recycling, and small amounts of construction materials from do-it-yourself projects.
CWD will be on site to collect Household Hazardous Waste (paints, chemicals, cleaners, used motor oil and batteries), E*waste (computers, printers, electronic devices, old television sets), used tires and a document shredder will be on site.
We ask that you pre-sort as much as possible; this will help keep traffic moving and allow staff to work as efficiently as possible. This is a free event for Azle residents and proof of Azle residency is required by presenting your City of Azle water bill and driver’s license.
Items Not Accepted: Ammunition, asbestos, boats, building materials, butane cylinders, explosives, medical waste, PCBs, propane cylinders, radioactive material, and smoke detectors.

Manager Tom Muir Following a Decade of Service
After ten years of dedicated service, City Manager Muir has announced his retirement, effective May 1, 2026. Since stepping into the role of Azle’s city manager on January 11, 2016, Tom Muir has been the steady hand guiding the day-to-day operations and navigating the complexities of a growing community.
During his tenure, Mr. Muir successfully managed various city initiatives, capital projects, substantial residential/retail growth; and, collaborating with council members, city staff and community partners, helped develop the 2023 Comprehensive Master Plan, establishing a strategic vision for the city’s future.
His dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to both the community and the employees who serve it, has placed the city of Azle on the path to a bright future.
