City of Azle Quarterly Newsletter February 2025 Message from the Mayor As I reflect on the past 22 years of serving on the City Council and as Mayor of Azle, I am filled with gratitude and a deep sense of pride for all that we’ve accomplished together. Azle has always been more than just a city to me—it is my home, and it has been my greatest privilege to contribute to its growth and improvement over these many years. We’ve seen our city evolve, with both triumphs and challenges, and through it all, I’ve been committed to making Azle a better place for its citizens and future generations. This past year has brought significant change to my life, particularly with the loss of my wonderful wife Jennifer, who bravely fought pancreatic cancer. Her passing has led me to re-evaluate my priorities, and after much thought and consideration, I have decided that I will not seek reelection for Mayor in the upcoming cycle. While I will greatly miss my involvement in the day-to-day affairs of our city, I feel it is time for me to step back and allow new leadership to take the reins. My decision is rooted in a need to focus more on my family and myself during this next chapter of my life. Although I will no longer serve as your Mayor, I am not saying goodbye. I will remain actively involved in our community by dedicating my time and energy to supporting local nonprofit organizations. I’m excited to make a positive impact in new ways and continue serving those in need. Thank you to the people of Azle for the honor of allowing me to serve as your Mayor. It has truly been an unforgettable journey, and I look forward to what the future holds for both myself and our wonderful city.
