Palestine Protest in Switzerland Turns Chaotic as Police and Demonstrators Clash
The Pro Palestine protest in Switzerland’s capital city, Bern, started with chants of peace but ended in panic. Thousands of people came together, waving Palestinian flags and holding posters that read “Stop the War” and “Free Gaza.” It was meant to be peaceful until clashes broke out between protesters and police.

A Peaceful Start Turns Rough
At the beginning, people marched slowly through the streets. Children walked with their parents, and many lit candles for the people of Gaza. The mood felt sad but united.
Trouble began near the Parliament building, where police had blocked a road. Some protesters tried to move past the barrier. Pushing started, then shouting. Soon, police used tear gas and batons to stop the crowd.
The air filled with smoke. People ran to find safety. Some fell, others were hit or tripped in the confusion. Several police officers and protesters were hurt. Witnesses said it all happened within minutes.
Why People Came Out
Protesters said they wanted the world to see what was happening in Gaza. They demanded a ceasefire and called for freedom for Palestine. “We came here to ask for peace, not to fight,” said one young man.
Many were upset that their peaceful march turned violent. They blamed the police for reacting too strongly. Others said a few people in the crowd made things worse by throwing objects.
