Concept completed a comprehensive internal refurbishment focused on the Hampshire Building, delivering a full reconfiguration to support modern teaching and student use. The works created a new student hub, a lecture theatre, and a range of seminar rooms, alongside refurbished classrooms, study areas, and staff facilities. Each space was designed to provide flexibility, comfort, and long-term usability.

Mechanical and electrical upgrades supported the new layouts and improved performance across the building. These works included enhanced lighting, updated fire safety systems, and alterations to existing services. Internal finishes included new partitions, suspended ceilings, flooring, and full fire stopping, followed by testing and commissioning to meet statutory and CDM requirements.
Delivering extensive internal works within an operational sixth form college presented challenges around access, noise, and safeguarding. We addressed this through detailed phasing, clear coordination with the college, and strict control of working areas. This approach allowed teaching and learning to continue without interruption.
We also introduced a new roof light to bring natural light into central areas, improving internal quality and user experience. New furniture and upgraded WC facilities completed the transformation, resulting in functional, well-lit, and modern spaces that support daily use and future growth.

Delivering a comprehensive refurbishment and lifecycle upgrade while safeguarding the church’s historic character. Concept carried out a full mechanical and electrical replacement alongside significant fabric repairs at St George’s Church, Bulford. Located adjacent to Bulford Camp, the project required additional precautions to avoid any disruption to live military sites and operations.

Mechanical works included installation of a new Low Temperature Hot Water system, upgraded electric and infrared heating, improved boiler room ventilation, and renewed domestic water services. The electrical infrastructure was fully replaced, including distribution, lighting, surge protection, earthing upgrades, and a Category L1 fire alarm system, supported by a new Building Management System and integrated PA.
Delivering a full services replacement and fabric refurbishment within a historic church required careful coordination and technical control. Integrating modern mechanical and electrical systems into a heritage structure presented challenges around routing, fixing methods and protecting original features. We addressed this through early design coordination, detailed surveys and close collaboration with conservation specialists to ensure new installations did not compromise the building fabric.

We worked across four unoccupied, one partially occupied building. To minimise disruption to the users, we strategically phased the work, carefully managing all activities in the occupied building.
During the project, changes to the original scope of work required additional after the initial ones had been placed. Working closely with the client, we adapted our approach to accommodate efficiently, ensuring seamless progress and the successful completion of the fire door installations.

We worked as part of a wider project team to remove an existing diesel powered pump house and provide a new off grid facility supported by solar photovoltaic panels. The works formed part of a wider sustainability programme to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve long term operational efficiency. The remote location limited access and deliveries, so we planned the logistics with the project team to complete the works safely, on programme, and to the required standard.

“The work that’s been done over the last 18 months has really re-made it, it’s like a new facility inside the school of music but of course with all the heritage and character of the old detention quarters, so we’re very pleased.”
PRINCIPAL DIRECTOR OF MUSIC, ROYAL MARINES
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Concept for the exceptional work they undertook during their time with us. Their professionalism, expertise, and dedication were evident in every aspect of the project.
From the outset, the team at Concept demonstrated a high level of skill and meticulous attention to detail. Their ability to manage the project efficiently while ensuring minimal disruption to our daily operations was particularly commendable. The contractors were considerate and respectful of the hospital environment, maintaining a clean and safe workspace at all times.
We were particularly impressed by their ability to adapt to the unique challenges of working in a healthcare setting. The team’s commitment to quality and their proactive approach to problem-solving ensured that the project was completed on time and to the highest standards.
The improvements made have significantly enhanced our facilities, and we have received numerous compliments from both staff and patients. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of the entire Concept team.
Based on our positive experience, we wholeheartedly recommend Concept for any future projects. Their professionalism and expertise make them a valuable partner in any endeavour.”
SOUTHAMPTON GENERAL HOSPITAL
“At relatively short notice, Concept fitted a kitchen in the Quartermasters Department. The original was dilapidated and depressing. The strip out and reinstall were completed quickly and professionally. The tradesmen were extremely polite, gave regular progress updates, and finished earlier than expected. Concept may not be aware of the positive impact the new kitchen has had on user welfare.”
QUARTERMASTER, MCMULLEN BARRACKS
“I don’t know how to express my thanks enough; the Concept team have been totally professional and are clearly extremely skilled. But what sets them apart is that they are also genuinely helpful and friendly people. And that counts for so much these days.”
MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
“Working with Concept was very straightforward; they were responsive and respectful during the whole project. Barton Peveril isn’t an easy environment to work in; you’re having to deal with children being on site and manage the legalities that come with it. You wouldn’t have known they were here most of the time, and they were always friendly. We are delighted with the project’s outcome.”
BARTON PEVERIL SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
“We have had the official word to say that we successfully passed the BM Trade audit which took place last Friday on the MEP & Pass Office Project. As you were all aware this audit was high profile within Amey defence and needed a positive outcome. Thank you all for your hard work and support (above and beyond the call of duty at times) that has resulted in us passing the audit with flying colours.”
AMEY DEFENCE SERVICES
These three pillars underpin everything we do to fulfil our social and environmental responsibilities as a business.
We believe in creating a positive social impact through our volunteering programme. Each member of our team across the Axis CLC group is given one working day per year to volunteer to an organisation of their choice to give back to our communities.
We work closely with communities across the UK and understand the challenges being faced by our wider society. We want to be part of the solution which is why we constantly seek to maximise our social value through positive contribution.
Sustainability is at the core of our ethos to build a purpose-driven business that seeks to reduce our carbon emissions, develop an ethical supply chain and contribute to a better future for all.

“At Axis CLC, we believe that maintaining critical infrastructure is about more than technical excellence – it’s about stewarding the spaces where our communities live, learn, heal, and find safety.
This perspective drives our commitment to go beyond simply reducing our environmental footprint. Instead, we’re focused on creating lasting positive change in every community we serve…
Our Responsible Business Report outlines how we’re transforming our approach across environmental stewardship, social impact, and sustainable governance. We’re not just aiming for net zero – we’re working toward net positive impact, where every project leaves communities and environments better than we found them…
Being a responsible business isn’t separate from being a successful business –it’s the foundation of our future”
