Overall it’s been a really positive relationship with CLC. CLC has installed approximately 1,700 solar panels across both hospitals, replaced 48 windows with energy efficient windows, and upgraded two roof structures with modern insulation systems.
Working within live hospital environments, our teams have carefully planned and sequenced works to minimise disruption to patients, visitors and staff. Close collaboration with the Trust’s Estates and Capital teams has ensured safe, efficient delivery while maintaining full operational continuity.
The aim of this project was to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and operating costs, while supporting NHS Net Zero Carbon targets and helping protect the Trust against rising energy prices – which CLC have delivered successfully for the Trust.
CLC delivers comprehensive retrofit and decarbonisation programmes through its dedicated Decarbonisation and Quality Assurance (DQA) Team, providing technical oversight, compliance management and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Live healthcare environment
CLC has extensive experience delivering refurbishment and decarbonisation projects within live healthcare environments where patient care remains the highest priority. Working closely with Trust Estates teams and clinical staff, works were carefully planned and phased to minimise disruption to hospital services. Controlled access arrangements, clear communication and strict infection prevention and control measures were maintained throughout.
Our DBS-checked operatives are trained in patient care awareness and understand the requirements of working in occupied clinical settings. Through detailed planning and close stakeholder liaison, we deliver complex projects safely while maintaining patient wellbeing, operational continuity and high standards of quality.
