Aero-Engines Europe 2025 welcomed a record-breaking 757 participants who engaged in exceptional knowledge exchange and connection-building opportunities throughout the two-day event.

On 9-10 September 2025 at the CCH Congress Center in Hamburg, aero engine leaders came together to discuss the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the industry as well as maintain and create new business relationships.

What did we hear from the 2025 speakers?
European engine MRO leaders highlighted the delicate balance between collaboration and competition. They addressed post-COVID workforce gaps and supply chain challenges while pursuing varied strategic approaches.
Engine maintenance experts discussed the transition from legacy to next-generation engines, highlighting the industry shift toward end-of-life solutions for CFM56 engines. They emphasized mobile services and module replacements rather than full overhauls, while addressing persistent material shortages through repair development. Experts predicted increased used serviceable material availability in 3-5 years and identified opportunities for smaller MROs to enter the market through “MRE” services.
Airlines are extending older aircraft lifespans due to new-generation engine reliability problems, creating an MRO capacity shortage. Operators address this through engine acquisition, shorter shop visits, and green time optimization. The secondary market for midlife engines plateaus while aircraft retirements continue to be delayed through the decade’s end due to delivery delays, ongoing reliability issues, and capacity needs.

Aviation industry leaders discussed AI as a decision support tool rather than a replacement for human expertise. They highlighted successful implementation of predictive maintenance to convert unscheduled maintenance into scheduled work, improving on-time performance and technical reliability. Leaders addressed implementation challenges like data security concerns and emphasized AI’s role in augmenting human decisionmaking by reducing repetitive tasks. They noted AI’s potential to attract digitally skilled younger talent to the aerospace industry.
